What product do you guys use for changing colors on a sport steering wheel button?
SEM? would it be paint or dye?
Got a brown one needs to be black?!
    Thanks in advance!

Go with SEM products. It should be a dye. Make sure to clean the part very well before applying the dye.

Sem landau black vinyl dye. It's basically lacquer with a flex agent.

Clean it with sem vinyl prep which smells suspiciously like kerosene....

Read the Sem info. Their product has never been called a dye, in my memory. They call it a vinyl color coat. To me it is a flexible paint designed to stick to vinyl, and leather.

They used to have a color match service. Send them a piece of the vinyl you wish to duplicate the color and they would mix a quart, use a paint gun to apply, and I have used paint brushes to apply. It is about as thin as water, covers like crazy. But not sure they still do that. I have remnants of a few of their mixed colors, still good.

Many years ago, my closest paint supply store had a product like Sem color coat. I bought their product, they could dial in the colors pretty good.

All this type product has a great shelf life.

From my experience changing color on a steering wheel is great,,, except at the top of the wheel where your hand rests a lot of the time, it has peeled there on all I tried it on, no matter what you clean it with.

It sticks to metal just fine when prepped properly. But it is a very thin coat so no build, sand, buff.
