Hello everyone. I am currently in a predicament where I'm losing garage storage for my car. So those of you who don't have your own garage to store your classic, where are you storing it. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I store mine in a 10'×20' heated storage unit. I built a mezzanine in it too to store my extra materials from jobs. One of the perks of owning my own business is I get to write it off as an expense for my company :D:p.

Being "financially challenged", and living in a Condo, I store my car in the parking lot under a good quality cover. If it snows, I sweep it off.

Rivi, this is a storage facility? How much does something like that run? I know what you mean Chuck. Been there before.

I did what Chuck does for two years and it worked ok but I was always worried about the snow plow taking the azz end off as my driveway is very short. Also my street sits down an embankment that runs parallel to the main rd/highway that and I've seen cars slide off of and down onto my road in the winter time. Yes no guard rails, crazy right lol. One winter a car came siding down and almost hit the pole beside my driveway, that was it for me the Riv was being stored somewhere safe for winter time. As for the cost of the unit the storage facility usually offers a discounted rate for the "heated car units" for the winter months at a flate rate of $150/mth. However, I rent that unit all year round and have multiple outside spots for my trailers and equipment so they give me a bit better of a deal :).

Buy an enclosed trailer, after about 3 years the trailer has paid for itself plus the car protected.

Sounds like a good option Rivi. As long as I can find a place that has a flat rate around me, that would be great. 72Stage1, I don't have a place to put the trailer. But thanks for your input.

When my buddy was in a pinch he rented a storage unit and put his car in one of those car bubbles.

Cheapest option would probably be renting a spot in someone's garage. I've seen them for $30-50. Just make sure they're not careless around it. neighbor or a friends parents for example.

Since I sold the house (still looking for the next one) the Electra has lived in a 20 x 10 unheated storage unit. Most storage places won't let you store cars so I got lucky. Also the guy who owns it let me test fit the Electra first!

With a 1" sheet of foam insulation board on the back wall to nose into the roller door *just* misses the rear bumper. If I don't get the car in straight the door won't close!

The only down side is the distance between the two storage blocks is only about 25 ft so... back, forward, back, forward damn! Didn't line up right. Back, forward, back, forward...

$115 a month dry and the site is fenced and has a security gate.

Whately Storage just off I-91 north of Northampton if anyone in the area is looking.

Whatever or wherever you store something ventilation and air flow is the key. Heat will not remove moisture. I have fans running in all my garages 24/7/365 . If I had to store a quality car outside I would also leave a fan blowing under it. Fortunately my Buicks are well pre-ventilated with all the rust holes.

Well Kid, it's depending where you live. Where I am garages go between $200 & $300. But then again that's how much storage facilities are asking for a 10 × 20 around me. Pre ventilated......that's funny Fred. Oh well. The search goes on and times running out. Story of my life.

Mine is the one on the left. The small door around the corner opens into my unit.
I’ve had my Buick and parts stored there for five years, while I was living in an apartment.
I just bought a house, and moved in.
I’m going to have a garage built here for the Buick

Yeah. That's what you get when you live in the city of Chicago and the county of Cook. Also known as Crook County. Cost of living is unfair here too.
