Street Avenger - very hot choke thermostat?

Twice I have burned myself on top of the choke thermostat black plastic cover.
The first time I thought it was due to a loose electrical cable was against it and cause a short circuit during some work with the electric all around the engine.
A few weeks later, I would change the ignition (plug the vacuum) and happened to touch the plastic cover back and burned my finger.

It seems dangerous that it gets so hot. Is it normal or is there something wrong with the choke?

    Thanks

is it hooked up to a constant ( hot ) juice lead or hooked to an ignition - keyed - juice source .
should not have constant power , only when ignition is on .
    that's my guess .
edit : just thinkin - if you go to summit website and look up that carb or a holley elec choke kit alot of times you can download/print instructions . if you do not have those could be a big help .

It is connected to the switch pitch cable.
Do not know if the cable should have the power all the time but it is so now.
I tend to disconnect the battery during the night, the car consumes too much power when turned off.

But you others who have modern Holley. If you drive all day with right electric setup, then your should also get very hot. Or there is something wrong on my. But the engine is running okay. I guess I should notice if the choke was always on or off?

just because the choke is powered does not mean it is closed , that just means it is operational .
maybe unhook choke and see if the power drain dissappears . and check the + on the choke with test light . wire connected , key off = no light . i'm not sure but that trans cable seems like it should not be "power on" all the time either .
also do not trust normal ground wire setup that connects to a carb bolt - trial run a ground down somewhere solid . frame may be best or body connection at least .
