a friend of mine want to swap out his dynaflow from his 63 wildcat 401 for a th 350. what has to change? thanks dave raleigh n.c.
Not sure what the undersides of those years look like, but I know older model Buicks with Dynaflows had an encased driveshaft...wouldn't that be kind of hard to swap? Forgive my ignorance!
I would recommend he use a Turbo 400 from a '65 or '66 full size Buick. The bolt pattern is the same. Use the flexplate, starter (nose) and torque convertor. He'll need to open the hole in the flexplate slightly, and install a reducer bushing in the crank to center the smaller nose of the 400 convertor. Carmen Faso (Buffalo NY) has them. A '64 Turbo 400 (Buick called them Super Turbine 400s) can also be used, but it doesn't have the "switch pitch" convertor. These trannies are tougher than a garlic milkshake... Frank
