Looking for switch pitch for my 400. I wanted the smaller converter to use.

Yes but I think you will be lucky to find one of those.I do have a 13 inch one. By the way this came with a 300 trainy Bruno.

ive got a whole st300 from a 300 I can take the converter from, I'm not sure on the condition of anything though it still has oil in it.

    What year?
The "Switch Pitch" in the ST300 was 64-67 only.

Get that one and send it to Jim Weise to rebuild it. Bruno.

I'm going to get it rebuilt so I just need a core to have him cut open.

Make sure you physically inspect the converter, beyond just depending upon the year information.

To recap.. look down the snout of the converter.. if you see two bushings, with a space in between them, and then the splines, it's a Variable Pitch converter. (aka "switch pitch")

If all you see is splines, then it's a fixed pitch unit.

But that sounds like to be a 13 inch also as mine is, if its a SP converter ,Coming from a 64 does not make it a SP converter . Bruno.

Here's a pic of the inside of my converter, it looks to have two sets of splines, but doesn't look exactly like the example in the link posted earlier. It also has some weld spots all around the outside, not sure why.

Weld spots + visual inspection are a sure and easy way to identify the VP converter

I went back to the link posted and it looks like the non VP doesn't have any weld spots, while the VP posted there has about half as many as mine. Would that, in addition to the pic I added, point towards the one I have being a VP?
