Just curious... Why are you running index classes and not a normal bracket program?

    Phil, if I may...

Heads up! We can race heads up and race against a car with similar power.

Better competitive racing. Better side by side racing.

Keep in mind we can make the classes anything we want. :TU:

Is that still a 12.50 car?

Seeing that this is a "Nationals" event, do you want to keep it Buick only, or is this a Brand X bash style where other makes are welcome?

Ben--It's my understanding we are trying to get the OLDS'S in this also....Phil, David---please clarify. I posted this event over on RealOldsPower.com in the "Events" section under the assumption the Oldsmobiles that show will be full participants.

I have to chime in too on the index thing. My car is 13.5 to 13.7. I'm not gonna bolt on half a second between now and then, and I ain't slowing it down and running in the 14.0 class!!!!
I know there were several consistant low 13 sec. GNs at Rusk, so it becomes pretty pointless. :Dou:
Fast cars (especially turbos) can play around with boost and timing, get close to an index, and still be quick. Not so doable for slow carbureted cars.
How about we start the index classes at 12 and quicker (or even 11 and quicker), and run a bracket for the rest of us? :Do No:

That is a good option. Let me mull it over and I will get back with you.

I may put up a poll and let the numbers answer the questions.

I like heads up racing... But if your on the bump 11.5, 12.5, 13.5 you have to slow the cars down to race index. I can see the mixed review on bracket vs index. Each have there own vices. We will figure it out regardless. :TU:

Ben, are you trying to make it a BOP event brought to you by the fine outstanding, Super incredible, They drive grandpa cars, Buick Group of Texas...

    They will be welcome also.

Maybe we should charge them more to enter  JK!

As far as Index vs Bracket, my vote is for Index. Nick, the classes don't have to be 11.0, 12.0 13.0 etc. that can start at 11.5, 12.5, 13.5 etc.
There is nothing set in stone. We can start and stop the classes any where we want. Let's see how the cars shake out and go from there.

Also just because it is say a 12.2 car, against a 12.5 car it is not a guaranteed win anything can happen.
There are some LSPBC guys that can't bring a Buick but can bring a GM.

    Yes

No matter how you break down the classes, some one is going to be stuck in the middle and either have to spend a ton of money, or slow the car WAY down to be competitive. Anyone ever seen races like super comp with those annoying throttle stops and stutter boxes? Thats not exciting racing.

Bracket racing is the same thing the faster car getting on the brakes at the end to keep from breaking out. Not much difference!

Those are games that people like to play, and they usually get beat pulling that kind of stuff

Phil/David--Thanks....now, just so it's clear to the Olds people that want to compete.... The Olds's get to race...and I assume participate fully and equally in the prize money for each class??? People will ask so you might as well make it clear up front. Thanks again.

Patton, yes if they pay to race in the event then they are eligible to win. You can run the blazer if you want....
