After Atlanta, it became more obvious than ever that there's a big hole between the highly successful Pure Stock classes and the F.A.S.T. class. I really think a new spin off class is required to fill in the gap. Don't change either, but come up with something else to fill the gap. Running a Pure Stocker in F.A.S.T. just doesn't get it (even with pants on).
not what i expected ... i thought there were going to be pictures of chevy slugs with holes burnt in them :Brow: .... dooooh ...
I think I read on the Y1 site that Big Squeeze might hold a new race for some sort of "look stock from the stands" class. You can read about it HERE This would fit the bill nicely don't you think?
Yeah, I remember that. Wayne and I were on the same wavelength and got clobberred by a lot of people that didn't see the difference in what we were proposing and Friday night Bracket racing. If the name of the game is to get enough cars to get a full field so heads up racing is competitive not just between the top very FAST cars (pun intended), but also the 12-14 second guys whose cars are equally as nice looking from the spectators point of view. Pure Stock approaches that, but there's still a lot of cars out there that won't spend money to make their cars slower and would love to have fun and not interested in bracket racing with noise making junkers. My suggestion would be stock appearing, capped up exhaust (any size, headers allowed), limited to the same type of cars as FAST and Pure Stock, but permit upgrades to wheel/tire (front and rear still need to be the same size), minor changes to paint (non factory colors), and open the hood only for safety inspection in tech. If you want to run a 455 Olds in a 64 -69 442, or a 427 Chevy in a 57 Bel Air, no problem. All would be best 2/3 and an additional quick 8 gamblers race (ladder) ($50 each entry?), all be heads up and all on the .500 Pro Tree. Oh well, put it to rest again for another year. Fire away Nay-sayers! I go away quietly.
Dave's post spoke of both the Pure Stock and F.A.S.T. classes. They both have 11 second cars. Which class were you proposing to be renamed Andy?
