Pulled this out of 30+ year hibernation.
Poor storage deteriorated it a bit, but very solid, looks worse than it really is.
Drag car since the mid 60's, came out of Tampa way back when.
    Factory heater delete car.
    Early Olds/Pontiac rear with a 4.30 Posi

He couldn't remember which class he raced it in, but it ran mid 14's at one time with a auto trans. 58 chieftan dragcar 001.jpg

I'm not real sure just what I want to do, or what I should do with the car.

    NOT going to restore it.

Possibly pie crust cheater slicks on chrome reverse in the rear with some old type mag up front.:Brow:

WOW,,,, one of my very favorite cars from back in the day..... the real rare one is the 1957 Bonneville... there were only about 5 or 600 made the last half of 1957... were fi and had it wrote across the front fenders in big chrome letters....
the one that was in our town was a convertible...and was bad fast....:Brow:
I never owned a pontiac,,, but some in the family did... loved them....

John Brown On permanant vacation !!

That could make a reasonably fast pure stock car with a little fluffing. My cousin had a 4 barrel 58 Pontiac that looked a good bit like that one, auto trans, lighter green with white two tone, post car, and it would show its tail lights to my 15.00 second 57 Chevy 283 4 speed car quite easily. Good score there Tom. :TU:

It was in the late 60's that ''blueprinting'' started.... If you took that pontiac and completely blueprinted the whole car, the looks/performance would astound you in stock classes.....:Brow:

    Cool Tom
So what did the car have originally, a 389 tri-power from the factory?

Not sure what I need yet, other than the driver side upper cove trim that runs from the door to tail light(it blew off on the way home:mad:)

Sold the 64 Chevelle the other day, the 61 Buick may go on the block, who knows.

Last Sunday I looked at a 57 Chevy wagon that was a drag car raced at Martin when it opened, and the guy got P.O.'d about something with the rules, so he brought it home and parked it.....IN 1965:shock: That thing was too cool for words, named the Aztec Warrior, oh yeah, and not for sale, darn.

Got a couple other vintage drag car leads I'm following up on, kinda like looking for Big Foot, or the Loch Ness Monster.
