So the big Question... The lady that runs the track said she won't put up with to much of this 11.49 stuff at the winter track Banquet, to a buddy of mine the races there every week. (She really didn't say Stuff-she used a dirty word)
    NHRA mandates cages at 11.99
    IHRA mandates cages at 11.49
So with all these purpose built Max what I can get away with cars being built for this year. What is your plan folks. Get to 11.49 as fast as you can , bracket racing, Factory installed throttle stop(haha)Racing only to the 1000ft mark?
With the NEW breed of Pure Stockers and the Quest to be #1 Whats gonna happen? and are you ready to be booted off the track after only one SUPER RUN? Not By Bob & Dan , but the track owners. I've been booted from MILAN Dragway before for going to fast with one of my cars.
Are you going to be pissed -or be fine with loading up and going home. It's not like you could Sue them for making them follow the rules.
Just curious as to what your thoughts are. I'm not stirring or starting crap- Just REALLY want to know what to expect when it happens.

Maybe start a new certification program, these cars will be show cased and offered premier parking spaces and complete magazine coverage of the tear down. To certified for this new class you cannot exceed advertise compression ratio, one piston of their choice will be removed, the ignition must be factory, the exhaust will have to be the same size as what it left the factory with and routed the same (no h-pipes or X's unless it had them from the factory). The cars that go through this process will be placed in the back rows and praised for their correctness, get a magazine that come on board and restart the 50 fastest muscle cars list using the cars that certified with these new rules . Once one of the big dogs decide to do this you'll have to certify to be taken seriously. The cars that are already built using NHRA rules can still run, but they just won't carry the weight they use to. Now the question is, is anybody willing to turn their car back to stock?

Dave , I'm not asking if we need to stroke there peepees. I'm asking if there ok with being asked to leave after only one run..I don't want to get into any pissing matchs over rules and enforcement of them. That has been tried Failed and been passed over already .Since there will never be cages in a PURE Stock cars ,since they didn't come with one from the factory. 11.49 is the limit.. isn't it.
We already had a certified program and it Morphed into this . So adding even more rules instead of enforcing the ones we already had.. EHH I don't think it would happen or help. The fastest car in the world is only cool while it's running down the track to me. If they have to put it on the trailer -it's just another trailer queen !:Do No:

Leave the track prep like last year and this may not be a big issue? NHRA & IHRA are both 11.49 for the bars. I guess the guy's are gonna have to back off the throttles to keep the ET's at bay?

I like Dave's idea, but it would be very labor intensive to certify the cars.

Here's an idea, follow the pure stock rules and don't build, as Tim puts it, "purpose built Max what I can get away with cars".

Yeah... that will be fun (Said sarcastically) . Traction controled ,Bracket racing , purpose built drags. Weeeeeeee Weeeeeeee .. Pure Adrenaline says the pig in the commercial:boring: Like I said -not trying to fight with you or anyone. Just wanted to know if they where fine putting it on the trailer for ever ,after only one run. At Stanton atleast.

He's the president/owner of the GS Club of America. He ran his 70 Stage 1 GS against a couple of hemi cars in shootouts over the years. None of the cars were stock.

If any of the above happens, I'm going to Pure Stock Needlepoint. As a matter of fact, I'm having MORE fun trying to make my old junk run with what I've got than I had when I was throwing $100 bills around. My goal is to get my heap into the 14's this year. Same goal I had in 1986.

    Simpler times............

Tim, great topic. I have been saying for a long time that the tracks are going to shut us down at 11.49, and i am surprised that it has not happened already. Milan has a bad reputation for treating racers like worn out old tires. I remember what Tom Cannon once told me, no bars in my cars!

That's why I purchased a coupe when I bought the GTO and not a convertible. I wanted a cruiser, not a purpose built race car and a well tuned, legitimate PS GTO convertible would need a rollbar.

My car still won't go fast enough to need a bar at any track, but I'll be able to buy gas for it at the corner.

Moving to FAST is such a simple solution to this problem. You can only stay in the 12th grade for sooooo long.

We even welcome the hair splitting, rule bending, eye winking, gray area shading, rule massaging and extensive use of whatever ISNT in the rule book.

.....its time to step up your game in the big pond....... FAST.:moonu:

That is a really good question Tim.

I'm in "Don't give a damn anymore" mode and didn't even think of it.

I'll bet Mary Ann has the sack to put cars on their trailers.

Well, I guess the folks with shallower pockets or in check egos will have fun running flat out..........

I think that's about the best anyone can expect.

You feel like you're being treated poorly because the track owner wants you to follow the rules? Maybe they should ask you to pay their insurance premiums.

Richard is a personal friend and a generaly all around good guy. Also owns Wildcat Performance in Valdosta Ga.

As for the 11.49 thing.... Id be thrilled beyond belief if I ever got my car that fast.(happly put her on the trailer) If I was ever to build a car with that time in mind it would have bars in it from the start. Everytime I tech im told I should have bars and im just a hair over 12's.
