Thanks guys for all your input it's much appreciated.I'll have to sit down when I get some time and run some numbers and see what the calculators spit out.A Cam change is not out of the question seeing as how I have some lifter noise, maybe sitting for 12yrs with the valve train loaded might have something to do with that.As far winding it up I ever took it past 5650,tried short shifting a bunch of time but never helped, maybe I should have been going up in R's instead of down,20 trips or so down the 1320 is just the start.

Ok I know this thread is old but I have recently torn my engine down for inspection after blowing a head gasket. So I want to do a cam swap while its apart and looking for suggestions on which one would best suite my goal of a solid 11 second ride.

A cam that starts with roller would give you the horsepower at RPM your looking for and a lower rear gear to complement the higher RPM would make a solid smile through those litt ol wing windows.

B4 I sunk money into a roller cam, i would get a good set of heads. The iron heads even when ported cam be a restriction. Does do any good to have a great cam and the heads still not move air

You aren't giving us the information we need to make a recommendation. It isn't a matter of picking a cam to go 11's, the rest of the combination needs to work with the cam. If you want to go 11's, you'll need good heads, either ported irons, or aluminum heads. Static compression ratio is an important consideration as well. This article explains why,

Depending on the cam, you may need gears and converter to get you into the power range of that cam. Then you'll need to hook it, so sticky tires and some suspension modifications may be in order.

Unless you have taken the motor apart, measured everything, and calculated the compression, you can't know exactly what it is. Don't rely on factory specifications. Example, the factory 1970 Stage 1 DID NOT have 10.25:1, it was more like 9.8:1.

A roller cam would be great and so would some aluminum heads. Not looking to get into that right now especially now with shortages/ backlogs all across the board.

OK, so you are almost there. Compression should be at least 9.5:1, if the pistons are shallow dish.

    TA310

Maybe try a split duration cam? TA413 or TA 290-08H?

I have never run unported heads, so I dobt know where they exactly become an issue,

Do you street drive, have power brakes. If so that will greatly effect how much cam you can run

I dont know how big a cam you can run with stk pistons either.

I know I did run a lunati hemi killer that had .53x lift with stk pistons and stk block

Pistons I bought in the late 90s I believe they are the early -27 cc version from what I've read the later are-23s. Im not apossed to getting pistons notched.Running TA 310 now.Car sees alot of cruising, manual steering brakes.

It’s cool to see time slips from people actually running their cars:cool:
    Looks like she’s a runner!
