Timing cover resto

    Ok, so far I am done working the surfaces and doing the mods that were mentioned (additional oil feed hole and bigger exit hole)
    Measuring as precise as possible the gears stick out the gasket surface by .003 on all edges holding the straight edge in all imaginable ways.
    Now I'm waiting for the TA shim kit which I will get by the end of the month.

    If there is more that can be done once I'm there, please let me know.
    What about painting the cover, is it a good idea or will the paint come off sooner or later?

    Paint it if you like. Some do, some don't. How well it sticks depends on surface prep. Looks good both ways.

    Paint it. I see your missing the water pump pins. Check the old water pump for them.
