I just was going through the threads of Buick nailhead stuff and you blasted me, my Intelligence, my persona, our US Military and more on open forum regarding my Blown Buick Nailhead. On the facebook pages "The Almighty Buick Nailhead Engine" You called me and my building of a blown nailhead a "**** show" and that me selling my Blown Nailhead broken as "now he wants it gone"

For one, I built the motor yes, with military specs, not the kind that the guys on that page talked about "shortcuts and being cheap" but it was done by the US Army at a local base that rebuilds engines for our military. And before they are sent back out to war they are tested for 3 days at 1/2 throttle without stopping for testing. If at any time they fail heat, speed, torque or power, they are taken out and rebuilt until they pass this test. The military these days offer perfection and nothin less. Here you are telling me and ALL to see that you do not belive in OUR military.

The motor was built by them during off hours as they are able to do so. I have worked a few times in conjuction with our great military hand building mufflers that do not exist any more on a 3 cylinder turbo Kubota diesel generator that was used for our radios in the troops vehicles. The non-turbo's were for the general public, turbo's were military only. They gave me one, I duplicated it and hand built over 300 of them. Both the US ARMY and I have a great understand for quality, not short cuts for our military.

My Buick blown motor has always ran perfect. It never overheated, it never smoked and I only ran 5lbs of boost because I chose not to be a dumb a$$ and drag race my car, a rare 62 Wildcat with 49,000 miles on it. Once my numbers matching 401 was rebuilt, I put the original motor back into the car because I did what I wanted and I wanted it to be back stock again. I had done the blown motor because I could. I pulled it out because I wanted too, not because you and your almighty godness assumes that a nailhead cannot be built but in a way you justify. I asked why things can't be done and if someone says they think this or that but have no idea why, then it can be at least tried and if it fails, then learn from it. My runs, so how is that?? Guess it's junk because you say so?? As an ASE Master Technician with over 38 years experience, I guess I know nothing.

I also OWN GBE Mandrel Bending a place your company HAS bought parts from recently to resell to your customers. That's why I did it. For me and because I could finally in life afford it. After building my business for 15 years and working 8-18 hour days to make what I have now, it just makes me wonder how you and you, using your families business name on your shoulder can bash people when they feel like it when they know nothing what others know. Most people out there are normal guys/girls looking for knowledge and to bash me, a person you do not know and the experience I have in life, career, ethics, etc?? Unknown to me why.

I have never dogged you or your company, but from what I see, your just like the other jerks that find themselves better than anybody out there and know "everything" That's why I stopped being a member of the BCA and of forums like this.

Even though you are THE moderator for that facebook page and number one rule is "BE NICE AND DO NOT demean ANYBODY", you broke your own rule and put others in line with you with yours and thier words. Only one guy, Jenson Miller was telling you NOT to say things like what you said. Him, I respect.

But here's something worse, I Read one of your postings about rollock abrasive pads- If I was a black dude, I would smash you! Really "AFRO PADS"???

I just want to say, I am done with you, your company and anyone who associated closely with you. I am blocking ALL sales from now on to ANY Martin family memeber and also Centerville Auto Repair in any future sales through my business GBEMANDREL.COM

For all who do not trust my words, see the pics I took and posted in this listing. NO FAKE NEWS HERE

I had a customer a few years ago that was dealing with Russ Martin... When he said that we were going dyno his freshly rebuilt 425 dual quad 65 Riv motor, Russ's comment was that 'we don't dyno them, they are "too tight" to dyno test.

    :rolleyes::D

After the session was over, he called Russ, and told him of the results... It was a dead stock rebuild, with the 66 cam specs. Built with the same care and processes that I have built our 455's with for decades...

It produced 308HP and 460 Torque... I was disappointed at that number, until my dyno guy, who has tested at least a dozen of them, announced that this particular one was one of the best he had seen with this type of build. They apparently typically make about 280...

He saw one that did make 370HP once, it had ported heads, and a roller cam.

Russ's comment was "he screwed it up, they make 360 HP from the factory".

We all had a good laugh about that comment.

I don't care how many copies you build, if you don't test, if you don't have the data, then you don't really know what your talking about.

He is a case in point...

yes, street engines are too tight to get max dyno results until broken in. thats common sense. i dont know what engine builder doesn't know that? i build 15 to 20 of these engines a year. every year. 400 HP is easy to get with boosted compression, TA 25 cam and enough carberation, even on a 364. we don't do dyno runs in house but we have people that have been doing it for us. even simply running too small of a carb, will drastically hurt performance. dyno results recently on a perticular build showed a 47 HP gain from switching from a 600 carb 800CFM. glad you're having laughs with other like minded people who clearly dont know ****.

wow you're coward for writing this "dear diary" letter over being butt hurt because i mentioned cast stock pistons wont hold up to handle the abuse of a blower and mentioned that your 500 cfm carbs are leaving 30+hp on the table. you argued with me about it, trying to sell your .060 over 425 stock cast piston blower motor to people, before blocking me... most 425s cant even be bored to .060 because of too thin cylinder walls, and id definitely never put a blower on one for that reason alone. but hey.... you've build one of these engines, so i guess you're an expert. i explained the issues with the build to you, and you got offended.... because as the book you wrote above clearly shows, you think you know everything and are clearly a sensative, insecure narcacist. what 12 year old girl gets on a forum that you knew i wasn't on, to write a 5 paragraph essay post like this? you're offended by the phrase "afro pad" in referance to the scotch brite rolox pads? wow. relating an abrasive to a hair texture which isnt even race specific is not racist. i have an afro AND I'M WHITE.

Its inevitable, the more the free information you provide, the odds of people being offended over being told what they don't want to hear, because they've made mistakes that you mention, are very high. A lot of people may not like my blunt/abrasive personality, but being 100 percent honest and truthful over the years, is more important than anything else has got me where I am, and the majority of people appreciate my "straight shooting.". Not everyone is going to like you no matter what you do. And the more "well known" you become, the nore haters you acquire. I'm sure if you ask around in the buick community, you'll talk to many people that will tell you i've even talked them out of spending money on high dollar items we sell, that we make a lot of money on, if its not a good fit... If its not something I would do myself if I was them... I'm not even on Facebook anymore. Grew tired of dedicating hours of my free time everyday, helping people, so people who know nothing can sit on their couch talk trash over the one or two nailheads they've done in their lifetime. I do free tech articles and post lots of my work on my Instagram page @nailheadmatt. So what's the HP of a '66 GS at 3600pds. with driver that can do the 1/4 at 10.8ET @ 125MPH. Works out to around 600hp give or take.

Well, why don't you enlighten us on what "loosens up" to provide these tremendous increases in measured torque.

All engines go thru break in on the dyno. The rings are then seated, usually with 3 pulls. This is evident by the fact the engine stops gaining HP and TQ, with no other changes made.

Once that is complete, when built correctly, this is as good as that engine will ever be. You will never have a better balance of cylinder sealing / internal friction.

Every Competent Engine builder knows that.

    -------------
So, outline for us exactly this 400+ HP 364ci nailhead... beyond the TA 25 cam..

Your vague enough with that comment to run for political office.

Awww thanks I love compliments. *flutters eye lashes and bl

you act like i owe you this information after you get on here and **** talk me and my business. the more information you hand out for free, the more people like you act like you owe it to them. hey i tell you what, paypal me a couple hundred bucks for my time and i'll hold your hand and walk you through it. tight clearance street engines arnt often broken in until 6 months later contingent upon how much the car gets driven. you'll notice even after cam break in and ring seating, often the idle speed will rise more and more after use, as the engine loosens up. fresh tight street engines also run hotter due to extra friction when they are fresh.. and that often lasts quite some time beyond cam break in and ring seating. i wouldn't bother looking for dyno numbers until quite some time after the engine hits the street. (obviously refuring to street engines.) race engines and street engine are as far apart as air planes and submarines.. but hey, you're the expert struggling to get 300hp out of a nailhead lmao. many aftermarket pistons have a lower dome than stock and are deeper in the hole. the 66 camshaft isnt even a 425 cam grind. all 425s in 66 got the 401 cam. 3 biggest/sensative common issues with people building nailheads, is they end up with low compression, use a smaller than stock, or narrow LSA cam, and undercarberate these engines. not hard to get 400hp for the reason we described above. WITHOUT port and polish. recently a guy doing dyno work for us couldnt break 400 hp because he chose to run 500cfm duals quads on it.... much too small. after putting 600s on it, he ended up with 415 hp.
