Hello, just wondering if anyone has a feel for about how much a junk yard could get for crushed scrap of, say, a 64 buick special. I need a bunch of parts off a car at a local yard and I'm contemplating making an offer for the whole car, so I'd like to be prepared with an idea of what he can get today if he crushed it and sold for scrap. It's a complete 64 special with drivetrain and pretty much everything (to get an idea of weight assume complete car 3500lbs I guess) It's a v6 auto.

    Thanks for any insights.

If it's the one at Ford's U Pull It near Honeybrook, that guy will want more than scrap price as any yard owner would.

That's the one! Thanks again for your posting it with all those helpful pictures. Yeah i figured he would ask for more than scrap, I just want to get an idea in my head for bartering purposes.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Scrap is between $10-12/100 lbs....so car is worth $350-400....that is complete....less once you remove parts.

I'll second the $10-12 per 100#. thats about what I was paid for the scrap from my '67 up here in IL in June.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say the old man there is going to want about $700. for it. A couple of years ago, they were trying to sell a 1949 Buick Special 4dr that was pretty decent and ran for 1500. but I believe it ended up in the crusher. I almost pulled the trigger on a nice black '66 Jaguar 420 sedan they had one year. Scrap was low and they wanted $750.

There's a small lot that has a 64 or 65 just outside of Cresson PA. The tops of the car are all surface rust, lower parts look great from a drive by. He also has a 49ish 4 door that appers to be in better condition. Interior in both are most likely shot.

I will be going through there tomorrow, try and remember to get a name and number.

Hey thanks Doug! I appreciate it. Looking forward to hearing about it/checking it out.

BTW your car looks bad-ass, I'm really liking the looks of it, and appreciate the lesser-seen colonnade style A bodies.

I see from the other thread that you purchased the parts car. Guess I should read more before posting......

Well here scrap rate is 272 tons and you can sell your junk car to Car Buyers In Annapolis IL. They'll provide you more cash than other car buyers.
