adapter plate and hardware to put a 4-speed automatic 200-4R or 700-R4 on a nail head engine. asking 375.00 plus shipping.
It's an EELCO.... says so in the casting! I'm not seeing a Bendtsens adapter for these (2004R, 700-R4) transmissions, just the "GM 4L60E, 4L65E, and 4L70E (2008 and earlier only) or GM 4L80E and 4L85E" I have no idea if there is a difference between the EELCO and Bendtsens as far as what they fit. https://transmissionadapters.com/collections/buick
The EELCO needed to be modified to work properly usually by Brenstiens. If it worked it has already been modified by Bob so it's good to go with no worries. Tom T.
selling for a friend, it was on the 1966 gs when he got it with a nailhead and 2004r, he has the tranny to it was suppose have been sent out and beef up and 2800 stall converter installed.
if it will bolt to a 4l60e it will bolt to a 2004r 700r4 or any other 90 degree chevy trans fyi. my car has a 62 motor so there is a difference for them. i have a bendstens at home but it cost alot more used just thinking i could come out cheaper but idk if it will fit.
https://transmissionadapters.com/co...chev-automatic-transmission-2-90-crank-flange you can see the difference here. so idk if i can make this one work?
I'm pretty sure a tunnel mod is required to put a 200R4 in a 66GS with this adaptor. Was his tunnel modified?
Is the trans available too? Why did he take it out? In line, pending more info like the answer to Phil’s question. I would also use it in a 66 Skylark GS.
trying to find out about the tunnel, tranny is for sale too i will get a price.. the person selling is very sick with covid right now. he put the 4-speed manual back in and sold the car.
IF this adapter was out of Bob's '66GS conv. he sent it to Brendstians to be fixed. Which it was. The 200 was sent out for a professional/upgrade rebuild also. Don't remember Bob saying/mentioning he had to mod the tunnel??? Tom T.
he text me saying he wasn't sure, there was an after market shifter in there maybe some mods were done with that, said nothing was cut out. if you have do mods with the smaller 2004r tranny what happens with the big 7004r. the cross member had to be moved back for sure.
It only is about a 3/4 inch thick adapter and the 2004r is a bit smaller than a st400 so idk why it would need modded. Im going to step out i got one just was thinking of selling mine and buying this but mine works a 100% for a 62 engine.
It's what I was told by another board member a few years ago when I was thinking about that change. It's shorter than a 400 but it may be bigger in the center.
talking again with the owner, he said it looks like the bell housing on both front sides were machined at a 45 degree. not a lot.
