hey guys i am ready to install the transgo kit in my th400 the kit offers different options from driver to competition, and i would like to see what experience do you have with it. i heard the options are conservative. So the car is not a daily lol a 68 A-body Twin turbo small block Street car /hotrod. 3;73 gears on a 28" tire... I like it firm but it shouldnt be RACE ONLY what transgo setups have proven to you
This is not exactly the best advice, but on my 67 Riviera I used the TH400 1-2 and drilled both holes to .110/.125 and it broke the tires loose on the 1-2 shift at 50 mph when the air temp was ice cold and the tires were inflated to 40 psi.
working on it now.. good news is it was rebuild before bad news it was obviously set up for towing with only 1 check ball... lol At least i have summit racing 15 mins from the house , so off to get check balls
I installed A trans go kit in A TH350 in my 72 Skylark when I had the automatic in it. I really like the kit,the first one I had installed. The best I remember I had A option on two different springs, one was street and strip the other was race. I chose the street and strip ,it made it shift very firm.
Install went smooth , i want to also cruise the car so i didnt install the " Competition only" parts , lets see how she will do.
The instructions advise to be conservative, as, line pressure will already be greater. They supply 2 valve body gaskets in case you want to go back and adjust later.
If this is a turbo application, your going to need to do something with the vacuum modulator. The transmission is not going to be happy when the vacuum modulator sees boost instead of vacuum!! There are mechanical modulator kits, or you can go with a manual valve body. You can use the TransGo kit, set it use using the manual shift option just don’t connect the vacuum line to the modulator.
