Rear seat back out. Found the mouse's living room. He's totally moved out.

Rear inside quarter panel and windlace out. Everything is getting a good scrubbing. A few incorrect screws used but not a big deal.

While I had everything out, I removed all the seat belts. Took all the buckles apart and have them soaking in hot water and laundry detergent. Water already turned brown! Yuck!

They're definitely out of a GSX!

Seats belts are clean, dry and polished. I have to say, they smell like fresh laundry! Two of the buckle covers needed a repaint so they're still not installed

Jason what are you going to use for paint. I’m doing a few of mine and was going to go with Sem trim black 39143.

So back to the door panel. Stopped by my local upholstery shop and got a piece of scrap cardboard.

    20211129_182702.jpg

A 4 foot level as a straight edge, scrap piece of wood to cut against, a tape measure and a nice sharp utility knife

    20211129_183148.jpg

    I cut a 3" strip 36" long.

    20211129_184847.jpg

Brushed on some contact cement and on both sides and waited about 30 minutes for the glue to set up. Once it was tacky, I laid out the strip over the break and put about 50 heavy books on it! After about 2 hours, the contact cement dried and its as good as new

Ordered a new package tray from Legendary today. I don't really like the one that was in there and legendary is having a sale. Bad news is I'm not getting it till after Christmas.

Im thinking about yanking out the rear window. Whoever resealed it was a little sloppy with the butyl tape. Just not up to my exacting standards. So we have a little mission creep, but at least I'll sleep better knowing everything is as perfect as I csn get it

Jason find someone who has butyl tape if they put it in with just urethane it will be the same mess

It was put in with tape but it just looks messy. Not up to J Cook standards

    Progress for today-

I put the repaired passenger door panel back on and installed the restored armrests. Replaced a couple missing door panel clips too

    20211204_141340.jpg

I took a defroster out of stock. Took it apart, cleaned and oiled the motor and tested it. Came out really good

    20211204_141300.jpg 20211204_141257.jpg

Just the right amount of patina!

The rear section of the interior was scubbed with hot water and simple green. The water in the bucket turned black!

All I really need to do is cut the holes out for the defroster and it can be zipped back together.

My Harrison SJ radiator is out fir a re-core. Yeah, it's supposed to be an SW, but I csn find an XS tank so....hopefully I get it back by Monday, Tuesday so I can drive it a little!

It always amazes me how much grime there is on black vinyl that can’t be seen.

It really is! You should of seen the water when I washed the seatbelts! After you scrub black vinyl, it actually looks brighter.

    Wow. Great job. Very impressive.
Lots of detail clean up and looks like you spent no major coin on parts yet. Be like new.

Mind as well peel back the rest of this onion.....

Rear glass is coming out. Word of warning- pulling rear glass out is not for the faint of heart no matter how nice the car is. And once you start, your in it to win it.

    20211205_145413.jpg

This is a lesson in how not to install rear glass, especially on a car of this caliber. It would seem that whoever installed the glass, didn't have new clips, so the molding was essentially urethaned in place. There were maybe 5 or 6 clips in the whole shebang. I dug out all the sealer out of the channel. Damn son...

    20211205_145433.jpg

    20211205_145433.jpg

Really no reason for it. All the studs are there and aside from two verrrry small holes in the bottom left corner of the channel, there was really no reason for this.

Eric the glass guy is going to stop on his way home and pull it for me. He's got all the cool glass tools too. Plan is to clean it all up, use rust neutralizer where needed, get the right clips and reinstall the glass correctly.

Don't throw that urethane away! You can melt it down and repave your driveway, maybe the whole street!
