I see different part numbers for just about every a-body out there. Is it because of the controls? I’m looking to find the best fit evap unit for my 66 special and I’m going to use their controls with knobs instead of slide controls. Condensers look pretty consistent so I’m not worried about that end. I’ll also be using bulkhead fitting for the firewall to ease the install. Any folks with a lot of VA experience on these cars? I just did the whole system on my 70 Camaro and it’s awesome! Managed to long haul power tour with sub-50 degree air at the vents!!
I've been casually looking myself (probably a next year project or even further out?) and have been similarly confused.
I think some of it is due to the types of controls but I could be wrong. The firewall shape is the same on pretty much all of the 64-67 A-bodies. A few changes in ducting but otherwise it’s pretty close to the same. My firewall is smoothed anyway so I guess as long as it fits what’s it matter?!
Heat was in excess of 100 and temps in my center vent was under 50. I’m quite happy with it to be honest. Made 1800 miles in the heat for power tour and we just did another few hundred in it this past week. The level of comfort is amazing even in my f-body!
I am going to call Vintage air this week to see which kit(since they don't have a Buick specific one) they would think would best to get to adapt to my 70 Skylark.I have read many threads that the Olds with a/C can be used.
The olds evap and condenser kits will fit just fine. It’s the controls that are different from what I see. You’d need to figure out a way to adapt their potentiometers to the levers on your control head. I’m going to just use their rotary controls instead of factory ones on my 66. The firewall on your 70 should be the same “shape” as the other a-body cars so that will be the easy part.
