**UPDATED 04/08/22** - Purchase complete $32,500 - Owner was terrific! He included all paperwork, convertible parade boots, cover. Dyno sheet (603 lb/ft @ 3400 and 510 hp @5500 [at crank]) and engine parts list will be in pics with vid. Just extremely clean, no rust, runs and sounds great (quick fuel carb helps), 3.08 w/posi. The only additions I see will be after market air, replace the 14's with 15's and paint white racing stripes on the hood. Plates will be "Hokie Bird" that read "YA-HOO".

**UPDATED 03/31/22** - Just made plans to purchase and ship the '72 455 convertible! It is just UNREAL, beyond my expectations. Will post details and pics after the deal is done...
    ========================================================

**UPDATED 03/26/22** - Just inquired about a 455. Wasn't looking for 400+hp, but the rest of the car has most of what the family is looking for (except needs original AC reinstalled). Probably a long shot cause my "dibs" is a few people deep. Car is in Rochester, NY for $32,500.
Though while we're waiting, We're Still Looking for the one and I'll keep the board posted...

I would like to recreate a 1970 Skylark 350 from my teenage years for a weekend car for the family. Something we can have fun with, dependable, go to local football games in, let the school kid’s use in their parades, etc.

Seeking a solid, working Skylark convertible preferably red with white interior (bench with armrest), black dash/carpeting, 350 or 455, column shift with tilt wheel (I'm robust), AC, original rallye wheels, a GS hood (with hood tach, extra) and a white convertible top. May have to change the convertible top due to wear, so color may not matter.

Will consider, but not looking for a real GS, definitely not looking for a real Stage 1 or any GSX and still can’t afford those rotisserie things or zone demonstrator cars.

Every 50 year old car has rust, but I don't want a rust bucket. No through holes poking into the carpeting. Please no undercoating covering the entire underbelly of the car. Not looking for perfect, just clean and operable.

I can always have the drivetrain rebuilt, headers installed with stainless 2.5" duals and an envious engine bay, but buying them is easier.

If it already has upgraded front/rear suspension, 4 wheel HD disc brakes that's great too, but leave me something to do. If it has it, I would like it to work; fuel gauge, speedometer, tach/clock (hopeful), all lights, hazards/blinker circuits, horn, wipers, wiper fluid motor, on and on, etc. I don't mind fixing things here and there, but I'd rather be driving it around town smiling like a jerk when I drop off my 10 year old to school (sorry foot slipped, vroom).

I've chased down owners from classified ads, been lied to by "classic car" dealers and have placed phone bids at a Mecum auction trying to find this elusive critter.

I'm old, paying cash money (though I have a limit) and I can even have a trucker swing by and pick it up if needed.

Thanks, I appreciate the referral Brian.

I checked his profile, seems he may only have the one pretty awesome'72; though unfortunately I believe it has:
    1. Black interior with buckets (I was looking for white)
    2. 4 on the floor (I need a column shifter with a bench/folding armrest)
    3. Fiberglass hood (for the cash I'd rather have good ole fashioned metal around my son, lol - I couldn't afford the "fiberglass fix it fairy").

Otherwise, seems like a great ride. Is it for sale? Don't want to bug him if I have nothing to offer...Thanks!

Sweet! I also have a 70 vert from my childhood. I considered a 455 swap in mine but ended up building the 350. What kind of white “racing stripes” are you planning? Like chevelle SS stripes?

    Here is an example:

Having a super hard time finding a painter to do it.

All we have are crappy collision centers and these types; "Earl Scheib - I'll paint any car for $99.99".

Ask a collision center to sand between coats and they look at your cross-eyed.

I figured about $2K to remove the hood, prep/prime, super white base, medium silver metal flake (0.008") coat, pearl coat and about three clear shots over the whole hood (each layer sanded/rubbed).

I've got $10K to paint the car, BUT if I can't get the hood painted the way I want...

I have been tinkering with the idea of using a vinyl "car wrap" for the stripes until I can find a painter...

That’s actually not bad, I cringe when I see chevelle SS stripes on a skylark, but I like that, it’s different. I like how it’s solid in the front then splits.

That hood strip is closer to a GSX stripe than it is to Chevelle SS stripes.

Yepper. I liked it better than just two solid stripes. Gonna remove the front hood chrome piece (hate barrel bolts/nuts), have the hood wrapped and reinstall the chrome.

It will even have a "pinstripe" on either side of the inner stripe running the entire hood and trunk lid. Trunk lid will be just two stripes w/inner pinstripes.

Doing it with vinyl car wrap instead of paint! Don't have as many choices as far as base, metal flake sizes, clears, etc., but fewer chances to screw it up and still look great...

When done I'll post pics. It takes a few weeks to get the choice of film delivered. Hoping for a bright white gloss with silver metal flake...

Right now I'm getting it inspected, adjusting the parking brake (and rear drums) and need to rebuild the Quick Fuel 850 as it's dieseling on shut off (it basically hasn't been touched since installed 10 years ago), but it runs great - I mean it's down right MEAN with those 500 or so horses on ethanol free 93 octane...Sure ain't no quadrajet with that lag when you floor it!

Here is the finished product after getting the hood striped and the new 15" wheels...

Better shot of hood stripes (with 14" wheels):

Anyone know where I can get a headlamp door screw? Take it to Home Depot and match it up as best as possible?
