Hope it matches, Steve! Will look forward to your report. Have run across another candidate...."OER" brand trunk spatter paint (Amazon). Has promising reviews one of which mentions that it matched a Firebird trunk perfectly and definitely tends to the aqua color palette. And has to be coated with clear (like Eastwood's). I really do not want to have to scrape the trunk to remove all the Eastwood!

I used GM 1051499 and when compared to the original ('71 Flint) it was spot on. You can order it from Summit or your local dealer. You have to flat clear it as mentioned above, as, its junk paint.

Thank you for responding, Matt. I had sprayed my entire trunk with Eastwood. There are a few areas on the flat of the trunk floor that go wet with mouse whiz and damaged the finish (thank goodness the wiring was not tasty to them!). Although the GM paint you suggest is "correct" it will not exactly match the Eastwood (which was pretty darn close to original). I really don't want to scrape the whole trunk and start from scratch. So, if I can find a can or two of Eastwood, I can spot paint the damaged areas and be good to go. If I have to redo the whole trunk, I'll certainly include your GM paint suggestion as an option!

I wouldn't scrape it all off - just go over it lightly. I'm sure it will easily blend.

Been a while since I posted about trying to match my Eastwood trunk spatter paint. Thornton's looked to be a likely candidate so I tried it. Not even close. It starts out black gray (base coat). Then the lighter spatter paint is applied. The spatters are so small that unless you stand way back and mist the trunk area, the "spatter" will evenly cover the black/gray. And it's closer to white than aqua.
That said,if anybody has got a spare can of the old black/aqua Eastwood spray paint on a shelf gathering dust, please let me know. Thanks!

Sounds like you might end up getting the best results with the stuff Dave posted in post #8 if you have access to a spray gun.

I plan on using this in the spring, as my trunk could use a freshening up after 52 + years. Best part of the OPGI stuff is no need for clear coat.

Brett, the OPGI spatter paint and The Parts Place spatter paint do not require a clear topcoat. And, they can be sprayed over the water base spatter paint that I have now. So, unless I get too carried away, the old spatter paint would not have to be removed.

Thanks,Scott. I wonder if the OPGI and TPP product are the same? Zolatone by another name. If so,then it's just a matter of price.

Damn, I think I ordered the last 2 cans about 2 years ago. I better hide them under my bed.
