Well all and all I would say 2015 Pure Stocks went pretty well.. With all the threat of Rain, and friends that couldn't make it.. Still a pretty decent car count. Cheers to all that braved the Odds. :beer

But I did see some Carnage

I myself broke a rocker stud, which was a fairly simple repair. And later found a Cracked lower crank pulley.

I saw Morgan suffered a few issues, Millers ate a power brake booster..
    Any one else ?????

First of all, I would like to thank scott tieman for all of his help and bringing me poly locks from his shop and getting my beer can motor back to life.

The trip starts with putting the wrong ball on the trailer and it flying up and denting the tailgate of a new z71 chevy truck of a buddy. All good until the 5th pass after advancing the timing, lost 4mph, didn't like that! Actually, it nocked off a rocker nut, pushed the lifter out of the hole, looking at a lobe. Scott says, let's rip the intake off, 10 minutes later, the lifter is sitting in the valley, missing the top and the clip, oh ****! Find the top and then scott finds the c clip and back in the hole and put on the intake to dry overnight. Scott is there in the am already wrenching on it when we get there at 9am. We fire it up and it runs like **** again. Plugs are fouled, and now the search begins, JJ for plugs, then another distributor I had, then the Simpsons carb and it is running better, but blowing smoke like hoopty in the city. Better change the oil because it does not look good. The search begins for oil and a filter, I had one, we scrounged 2 more and then hit the mother load when Jim Jarrat's wife drives up in the golf cart with a case of Joe Gibbs oil and a filter! Thanks again Jim!

Still smokes and I am done, maybe a leaking head gasket, we. Clean off the trailer and I fire it up and no more smoking, wtf, maybe we can make the race. AND THEN THE RAIN CAME AT 2:45! I was wiped out and loaded it up and ended the 48 hour hay ride to hell.

The best thing about this event is the the fellow racers and fans, from the fans chasing down oil and my friend with the smashed truck getting plugs fron JJ, to scott jumping right in is the reason to attend this event every year.

Then the new hotel and party! The rooms were great, no bed bugs, to the party in the lot, plus the huge tent that came in handy when it started to pour. The Benoit gumbo, fried catfish, gator balls ,gumbo plus 10llbs of shrimp was unreal.

Thanks again to everybody that helped out.

Worst was what what happened to Pegleg-Frank Rice hitting the wall TWICE! OMG glad he's OK!! David Warren in the Black '55 Studebaker suffered two broken ribs when a cheap lawn chair collapsed underneath him. Peter Sant lost the starter in his R2 Avanti. My tow fleet took the hits-the trailer was broken into on Thursday morning at the storage yard (thankfully nothing was taken-long story) and my F 250 lost the main brake line in front of the hotel Friday evening. Chuck Kern (white Avanti) blew a tire in the hotel parking lot on his trailer. Thanks to Discount Muffler in Edmore for getting my F-250 and Peter's R2 back on the road by noon Saturday. Plus I heard that Rhonda's cookies from Karen were stolen on Friday as well!

If those were the delicious chocolate chip cookies in the square tin pan, they weren't stolen. I was only going to eat one, but it was like crack, and once I got a taste, it was all over with. sorry:Do No:

I popped a head gasket or piston in the bracket race challenge after making it down to the final 3 cars, had to bow out.

We drove to the race and had to borrow a truck/trailer from Nick Tomlinson to get home. Thanks again Nick.

Also thanks to Dave Hemker and crew for adding the challenge to the event. Hope it continues next year.

Of course, really glad to see Frank Rice is OK. That was bizarre to say the least.

Trevor and I lost our ???? Y.O. helmut. I put it on Friday, and the foam inside disintegrated onto my hair. Darkest my hair has looked in years ! LOL
Threw it in the trash Saturday.

I want to know what came off Jim Lerums car during his last run against Tim? It looked like it spit the crank pulley onto the track. Whatever it was was about the size of Dog Dish hubcap, but both Jim's Chevelle and Tim's were running the spoked Chevy Rally wheel with small center cap.

As for the helmut head.. i would of Loved to of seen that!!!

As for what flew... the last round i noticed my lower crank pulley had a crack in it.. hmmm .. ahh heck.. it will make it thru one last run.. So we line up to do our thing- both running down the track and ZING!! Well turns out Jims lower pulley had a worse crack in it CUZ there she went and threw the pulley .. His car Jumped to life and picked up 2mph.. SEEMS Kinda EXTREME to me just to try and catch me on the big end ;) but i guess not driving water pump, fan and alternator is worth Big Power. Hahaha
So glad it didnt hit his or my car somehow.

Thanks for the "Clary-fication" Tim ... I know... I kill me.

Seriously, I'm glad you did chime in here. That sure is what it looked like and that is an unusual item and place to see something roll out from.

I really enjoyed your pairing with Jimmy Lerum. Of course there's the similarity in cars, but knowing you two are gentleman and friendly in the pits, and once you pulled up to the line it was all pizz and vinegar. A Battle Royal ! Very entertaining !!!

    Bigpig455 Fastest of the slow....

I think the Buick guys dodged a bullet when the water came up around the storm drain in the middle of their pit during Saturday nights storm...only the black 71 GS got water over the rockers, but thankfully not into the mechanicals. Could have gone much, much worse.

Just to Clary-fy...( Good one Rich ) ... Rhonda made Cookies for everyone to enjoy, and she was very happy you all did. The No-bakes and Chocolate chips will return Next time for all, in the "tin foil Cookie pan"..

The referred to "Stolen cookies " were a gift left on her Console in her Tahoe... But--- She Thinks they went to a good home.

She Believes she got a good look at the cookie thief- and could identify him in a Pure Stock Lineup HAHAha

Tim, does your car use a lower pulley reinforcement ring? Olds does on the 2 groove non A/C crank pulleys to protect just what you're saying.

It was a reproduction BV Deep groove.. it has a Reinforcement in there.. That's what was holding it together

Spun a rod bearing on my duster, cut the day short on Friday, I jumped the fence and retrieved that crank pulley as it came to rest in front of us. Looked like a couple bolts may have came out of it? So the last one gave in on that last run, just the boost you needed by the looks of it.

Lerum threw the pulley, not me.. Mine is still in place
