On the back of my carb, right in the center, low on the base is a nipple. I've been combing through the Service manual and its no help. Does anyone know if this gets capped, or does it need a hose going somewhere and if it does, WHERE ???? Its a 7042940 Q Jet . Thanks for any help.

It usually goes to the vacuum storage container on the fire wall. The container stores vacuum for the HVAC controls.

Wouldn't that be the vaccum port for the brakes

No, the vacuum for the brakes comes off a fitting on the rear of the intake manifold.

That's not the way it was stock, but it will work. The original question was what the vacuum port on the back of a Q-jet base plate was for. On a stock application, it went to the vacuum storage container for the HVAC controls.

Thanks Larry! So many things were changed on my engine, it was hard to figure some of them out. I eventually did discover that , quite by accident. Some more pics should be coming soon. Getting closer.......

If no AC then I think it was capped?

Ritter What engine do you have? What is in the port for the brake connection?
