'70 GS. Keep in mind the wider you go in the back, the taller the tire is (unless you drop the profile) so while you're increasing the contact patch, you're effectively lowering your gear ratio by going from say 235/60 to 245/60 to 255/60.

255 on a 7" rim looks good and fits good. A 275 fits but looks like it needs more rim and any tire shop is going to cry about doing it.
255-60's with 8" rim on rear, 215-70's with 7" rim on front gives you the square looking sidewall with no bulge. This combo has a flat footprint and they are basically the same height too. I don't like the bulging sidewall look.
