Where can i buy this Muffler? Hi, Where can i buy this Muffler example from the pictures? I'm looking it for a 1970 Skylark GS350. The A/C will be refill with r12. Thanks! Chris
i believe this is a muffler.mine was all rusted out on the bottom, which a lot of them are.take the insulation off & check it.need to pressure check it.but a good a/c shop could propably rebuild it.it only cost me 75.00 to have mine rebuilt. tom
Chris, this not a dryer, its a muffler, a baffled chamber, you have a dryer located near the condensor, AL.
Ok, i have change the theard title. Thanks. There's a small hole in the muffler, what i probably can repair. But the muffler is a kind of filter that iron-fibre or some dirt take out the A/C system? And some A/C service companies advise my to replace the muffler every year because that's beter for the A/C compressor. Chris.
No need to change it every year. It should last the life of the system if a failed compressor doesn't fill it with shrapnel, or if it doesn't rust through. The problem with repairing it is, that can leave debris inside of the can that could damage the system. You can't flush it. Contact www.ackits,com and see what they say about a replacement. Maybe even post those pics on the www.autoacforum.com Forum. I can't say I've ever seen a muffler that big. (Unless it just looks bigger in the pictures).
Ok thanks! I go follow your advise and post it on that forum. I have never see working the A/C of mine Skylark since i buy the car (2 years ago) But i think the pump and system is ok and not rusty or dirty inside. The muffler is also not rusty but has through wear and tear a little hole in it. Now is only the question for myself: is there debris inside the muffler? See: http://www.autoacforum.com/messageview.cfm?catid=20&threadid=9196 Is it better to change the dryer for a new one?
I see you're in the Netherlands. That complicates things more. My 2 main suppliers for old parts don't ship overseas. If you find someone who has it but won't ship it to you, I'd be glad to help you out. Post your pictures and questions on the forum where you found the "Feeling Lucky" article. Also contact www.ackits.com with a parts request. They may be able to find one for you. Also contact with www.oldairproducts.com They may be able to help. Edit: I see you already posted on the Forum.
That item...actually both AC lines are being considered for reproduction by www.thepartsplaceinc.com It should be something they can have ready in 3-4 months or less.
