Been trying to figure out which spacer and gasket setup I need to use. I didn't intend on using a spacer but I have to with the 200-4r I'm putting in. A friend has an open aluminum mr.gasket spacer. Is this the one I need? Which gaskets do I need to get? Trying to get this setup ready so I can figure out which air cleaner I need, which is going to present it's own problem trying to fit under a stock hood.

I would recommend the open spacer

ok thanks mark. I was gonna message you on fb about it but figured I'd see what opinions are on the board first. I think the open spacer my buddy has is one of those universal ones. Probably get it for free. I REALLY didn't want to end up with a spacer but I have no choice with the 200-4r. ORdered the correct bracket for the tv and throttle cable. Haven't had a chance to mess with the carb yet. Gonna try to get this carb spacer on and work on getting things set.

The quadrajet likes the open spacer. The big secondary blades will be lifted above the divided intake and will flow better. Hood clearance is your only issue there. Maybe a good drop base will work for you.

If that spacer is too thick, you may be able to find a shorter one.

I've read lots of back and forth opinions on it and four hole sounds to be popular with the stock intake but couldn't find anything on the edlebrock. Again, thanks for the info. I'll keep up with this thread til installation is finished so there's that much more info out.

Hi useta, I used a 4 Hole Wooden Spacer on my 350. 3/4" was too high so I ran it through my planer to get the spacing just right. I think I ended up with around 5/8 of an Inch. after around 8 Years it's still there and working fine. The TV Bracket barely makes it's travel. I have a Stock intake tho.

I had a 1" plastic 4 hole spacer on my qjet with the 2004r. I was pretty happy with it. Car always pulled hard. I think the open spacer would show the most benefit at higher rpm use

Don't know why you have to have a spacer. I just cut off that piece of the manifold that is in the way. I have run both Q-jet and Holley with 200-4r

Open, phenolic; nominally 1/2 inch thick. Takes a lot of heat out of the carb. You'll need some new bolts and two gaskets, but the stock fuel line has sufficient stretch in it to still reach.

I get the bracket today. I'll see how everything looks and mock the cruise up and make a decision. 1/2 inch spacer would be a good compromise.

Here's how I mounted mine. Hope that helps.

I see. I think I'm just gonna stick with the spacer just because of the concern of the cable being at an angle instead of straight. Can you recommend an open one inch spacer to fit the edelbrock intake and quadrajet? Do I just use one of those universal adaptor plates or is there a specific spacer I can get?

Mine had a 4-hole plastic 1" one. It was a bit too thick. I think you can get by with less but 1/2" might require thick gasket to compensate or grind on those bosses if you go 1/2"

I'm gonna try an open 1 inch with matching gaskets. Hope a drop air cleaner will fit under the hood and clear the linkage.

    I don't trust plywood spacers.
I had one collapse a little on one corner as it eventually absorbed fuel and vapors.
Sucked air and caused a lot of unnecessary troubleshooting.
    Phenolic is forever perfect.
    Now...
I use a 1/2" phenolic 4 hole under the carb; on top of a 1/4" GM gasket (with the hard plastic buttons), which I trimmed into an open spacer.
B4B has 1/2" of divider cut out.
Tried several things and like this combo best.
The 4 hole improves idle/off idle, and the cut open GM gasket/cut B4B divider improves plenum space and fuel distribution.
    Just my humble opinion.
