I got a quadrajet carb for my 72' 350. (from 72 pet chicken :TU:) It needs a rebuild and i was wonderin whehere is the best place to get one. I heard that NAPA carries a cheap one (around $20) but was unsure if that is the best, cuz i also know that carbdoctor.com has like some Superkits that are like $85, but include tons of stuff. Do i need a Superkit? Or will a normal kit do fine?

    Thanks

I recommend getting the kit with the most stuff in it, wherever it is sold. you might as well fix everything, while youre in there.

I bought a "cheapie" online rebuild kit and ended up buying all the extra parts individually. It was a pain and cost me more.

Look for the blue rubber accel pump cause it will stand up to the ethanol in todays gas. a new float is a good idea, I know they make some to hold up to ethanol if you get the right one. I think some are brass?

Also look for the cam that operates the secondary air flaps, they get worn.

I also recommend the throttle shaft bushing kit from tin indian performance. you can find it on the web like I did. Easy to use, worked well.

The last place I want to mention is www.carburetion.com this is a decent resource for some individual parts that I found.

    good luck!

Thanks for the info. I know that NAPA carries the simple kit and then has all the other parts separate. The kit was $20 and a brass float $10. But it might save money to buy the kit w/ everything included online, like you said

I'd go with the "tons of stuff" kit also. Good to see you are getting this thing in shape. When you swap the intake, do yourself a favor and paint it with some Duplicolor engine enamel. You will thank yourself later. Also plug those exhaust crossovers!:TU:

What kind of shape is the carb in?

I was wondering about that. What all should be covered then the carb is taken off? What should be covered when i take the intake off?

Here is the link that has two pics of the carb i have
