Who Needs A N-25 Bumper?

    We are working on a tool for stamping the N-25 bumper exhaust cutouts in an original bumper. This is an impossible bumper to find anymore so this will allow us to take a plain bumper and put the N-25 option on it. Who would be interested in having this done? We are trying to see if there is a market before we follow through with the tool.

    We have had the tooling drawn up and they will be making the tool soon. It will be about 3-4 weeks before we are able to stamp them. So I don't have a price yet. Keep in mind we will have to rechrome it, and we charge $279 for that with your core.

    Shane, wouldn't you also be able to just provide the cutout service, for those who want to send their bumpers out for show chrome after you do the cutouts?

    Shane,

    He is a little food for thought....

    Why dont you focus on making parts that are not already made by some other person. Seems kinda pushy and ignorant. :Dou:

    I have one word for these situations.

    "Monopoly" :af:

    The procedure Shane is talking about is totally different from what Rusty does. :Smarty:

    I just got a Rusty Davenport bumper that was cut out for N25's and it looks factory to me. And I also agree about the duplication of stuff. Buick market is small it seems to me that concentrating on things that arent made would be better for all involved. More parts is better than more of the same thing. Same conversation as before Shane.

    The Parts Place is well aware that I repro the N25 bumpers.I am also the fellow that just sent them a NOS 70-72 Skylark outer wheelhouse to reproduce theirs from;I guess this is the thanks I get.Why don't you guys repro something that isn't already being reproduced already????????? It is obivious that you TARGET things that are currently readily availible for Buicks to work on first which makes no sense to me at all.

    Well aware that you make the N-25 bumper? Remember we just traded you a bunch of parts for a supposed original N-25 bumper. Why would you think we would want the core? Especially when we have been asking around for parts to repro. When you called and said you had one you wanted to get rid of this was the perfect chance for us to make another part. Should have mentioned something to us then...

    I also got some more info on the tool, it is almost done. I was not made aware of what was exactly going on. We want to have this available for our replating serice. The info I have on it as of this morning is that there are 2 tools. One is a die and the other is a punch shear. The die itself uses a bumper bolt to line up the bumper in the correct spot to punch the hole in it in the same spot as the factory. Then the punch shear, punches the hole and rolls the edge. The bumper will then need to be replated, we will offer the service with or without chrome plating. Our plating is equal to or better than GM plating, but is not show quality.

    What about full factory style quarter panels? Or fenders?? I think the Buick Skylark/GS is the only 70-72 A body that you cant get repro fenders for.

    Anything on the horizion Shane? Give us a glimmer of hope!

    There ya go! GO MAKE THOSE. Nobody makes them. This would be much more valueable to the buick comunity. I would think you should to do some poles or possibly look at the one That Jim W. posted himself for who needs what the worst, repro wise. Just post it here if you don't know if someone does this or needs this. Somebody will give you an answer. Seems to me that sheet metal parts would bring you a better return, than on something that is already reproed. Where nos fenders are going four figures for a pair, because they are unobtainium, well...

    There is a local plater here that has had the punch for repro'ing the N-25 bumpers for at least 15 years, probably closer to 20. It rolls the edges under just like the original. He's stamped plenty of bumpers over the years, including other year A body bumpers.
    But I agree Shane, many items are needed that aren't being offered yet. To keep the peace and not cut into someone elses business why not poll what parts are most likely in the highest demand and start there. Not rebuilding a widget somebody else already offers.

    With all due respect I personally contacted you "Rusty" for a N-25 Job . 2 months of e-mail led to no where ..I ended up paying from $200 to $400 for cores from the V8board and ebay than sending them to Desert dog for plating costing another $350 and at least a 2 month spell before they hung off the ass of my cars. Put me down for 2 more rear bumpers if you can and I know you will produce...thanks :TU: Competition is good! The more the better!
