Will a 67 column fit a 65?

I am trying to find a steering column for my 65 Skylark and I have a friend in another state that can get ahold of a steering column from a 67 Skylark. Both are floor shift and I know that both have the ignition in the dash. Simple question is will it fit?

    Thanks in advance

I don't know about the A bodies, but I tried using a '66 Riv column in my '67 and they were completely different. '67 is the first year for collapsible steering columns, and it seems as though GM made it nearly impossible to do in order to preserve this safety feature. Unless you want to hack up your car, you'd better find the one that belongs in there. :bglasses:

I think A body Buick 65/6 are the same. In addition to the collapsible on the 67 I think the 67 is slightly larger at the hub about 1/4 inch. I think 67 and 8 hub sizes are the same. I have a 65/6 and 7 and had to turn down the 68 three spoke hubs to make them match the 65/6 column size. I did not have to do this for the 67. I do know 68 colums do not fit very well in 67. Thanks Bill Sangster.

Thanks for the info, I guess I will have to look for a 65/66 column. Chevelle should work also, correct?
