Will an idle stop solenoid work on a 71 carb?

Everything in my 72 manual shows I.S.S. My intake is currently from a 71. And the carb. Can I simply put the I.S.S on and leave it ,or do I need to put on the 72 carb ? I have the right carb, but it needs rebuilt before it can go on. Thanks . Please PM me after posting an answer.

    Kevin,
'71 & '72 had different solenoids as well as slightly different intake castings to accomodate the solenoid mounting set-up. '71 has one threaded hole & another unthreaded to catch a pin on the solenoid bracket. The '71 bracket consists of two stamped steel pieces with a clip to hold them together.
'72 has two threaded holes to accept the '72 solenoid bracket, which is permanently attached.Either year carb. should be OK.

Thanks , Steve . If at all possible , I'll get the intake and carb that belong on the car cleaned , rebuilt and replated and back to original so it doesn't become an issue. But as many of us have learned from experience , it's always good to have a backup plan.:Dou:
