http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/69-1...ryZ15287QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Can't wait to see what this little jewel brings. Looks like some clown is trashing the auction by running it up (zero feedback). Like the look of the black wheels and blackwalls with the dog dishes with this color. Wheels were painted body color with these bottle caps originally. Black wheels came on cars with full wheel covers (and of course, black cars with these caps). Like the oversize tires and the slightly raised up ride height, too. JEA, you need this car! It's calling your name.............
I have NEVER in my life seen a car that needs a nice set of shiny wheels more than that car. ou: I really don't get it. o No:
It was one of a few that I took pics of, so I guess it made an impact on me. . . damn, I need to resize it.
Just because you sport a set of 22" spinners on your GTX during its off season from FAST doesn't mean that EVERYONE wants a set of shiny wheels. That 442 looks just r-i-g-h-t with the black rims and doggy dishes. What next?? 4 speeds for everyone too!?!?!?!
I like dog dishes on plain Jane cars like this, but really nice loaded up cars looksilly to me without some nice shiny wheels, like Joel's GTX. Then again, I REALLY liked JJ's Nova with the Magnum type wheels, Maybe it's the silver color. This black on black treatment looks great on this car. I can see why you shot it, Diego. I think this is a new high for a non W car Olds.
You are right Dave this is a new high. The silver W-30 that won the Nationals at Seattle and was a much nicer car only brought 42k . Gene Wray's son's car. Silver with black. Perfect # matching car with dog dish caps. I like the dog dish caps. Both of my 66 W cars have them.
The silver w/black looks killer together...but if I was gonna throw down $35k for an Olds, it would be a certain green car that I *know* already runs like it's supposed to...but then again, what does a dumb ole Hillbilly know... o No: -------------------------- Hillbilly Racing Team Tired of AutoZone's *limited* selection? Then try the Pottery Barn!
$42,600....Wow! a new high for a non W car. Maybe it's not all about performance...??? These 400's were not very fast. o No: o No: Can you imagine what it may have brought if he had put the W30 package on it? Easy to do. Even as a clone/replica, that's Barrett Jackson territory.
Hhhmmmmmm??? I'm thinking one of these 68 or 69's is next on my to do list. No power option's on a lightweight post coupe and a NHRA'd 400 look's like easy high 12's to me :3gears:
Good luck on a G block 400, Tom. I've heard of some getting into the 13's, but never actually seen one do it. Been around a lot of oldsmobiles for a lotta years. They just don't have the hp at the top end. Serious valve shrouding with the 3 7/8 bore and 4 1/4 inch stroke. If it had been a runner or even had the potential of the predecessor E blocks, you would have never seen a W31 or maybe even a 68 Hurst. Piece of cake with a 66/67. A lightweight 66 post with L69 and W30 would probably get you in the high 11's in Pure Stock trim. With a 67, though, you could run a switch pitch T400 (they came with them) but no tripower. Supposedly not giving up too much with the Qjet. Certainly a lot cheaper! Now if you wanted to make a 68 Hurst replica/clone, you could run a 455. There were posts and hardtops in 68, but I think all the 69's were HT's. Can't run the good W/Z manifolds on a 68, OK on a 69. 66's are bring very big bucks right now. Go after that one you know about. You could always do a lightweight 70 post W30 and have the best of all worlds.
