''wrong carb''

    New project 71 GS455 .Engine block correct numbers but took off Quadrajet and numbers for 74
    350 (7044244 KD) guess I should find new carb.

    Correct, the 7044244 is for the 1974 350 engine. They are calibrated quite a bit differently than the 1971-74 455 carburetors and smaller cfm. Still decent units so I wouldn't just jump ship on it as it could easily be set up to work on a stout Buick 455 engine build.

    Even with that said there are plenty of nice 1971-74 455 "240" carburetors out there and they are larger cfm than the 244's. The early Buick 455 carbs are also pretty inexpensive to buy as cores unless you are looking for one of the "holy grail" part numbers.....Cliff
