Anyone have issues trying to find original sport mirrors for their X-bodies?
Not sure if you all have the same issue in identifying correct sport mirrors, like the Skylark/GS guys, but in my research of identifying sport mirrors for my 70 GS I also came across the X-body variant.
Here are some helpful identification tips in identifying the sport mirrors for just about any X-body car.
I found that the major difference between the X-body mirror and the Skylark/GS mirror is the Base/Pedestal, Mounting bracket and gasket.

The above photo shows the correct angle and mount on 73 Nova.

According to my parts manuals the original assembly part numbers for the 71-75 X-body would be:
Drivers Side = 9882068, Passenger Side: 9626974. The set is listed as 983406.
These assemblies are easily identified by an "X" casted in the underside of the drivers side pedestal and an "O" casted in the underside of the passenger side pedestal as shown below. Notice there are no mounting studs.

I see a lot of mirrors advertised as Camaro/Firebird or GTO/442/Chevelle/GS with these casting letters where the seller has no idea what they have. So when looking at pictures or mirrors online look for those letters and you will be sure to have the correct ones for your X-body.

    The base/pedestal:
The angle and length of the pedestal is unique for the X-body cars:

I found that the upper housing and mirror glass assembly is basically the same as the early A, F and G-body except that the drivers side remote cable is a couple of inches shorter on the X-body assemblies.

    The Gasket:
The base gasket P/N is 9877665 for both drivers and passengers side mirrors and it an X-body only design. The bottom of the gasket is contoured to fit in the channel of the door skin. I find it nearly impossible to find the correct gasket from aftermarket vendors. It seems that most reproductions are copies of the Camaro/Firebird gaskets. Some people are 3D printing them now.

The correct gasket should measure about 4-3/4" long, 1-5/16" wide and hole-to-hole dimensions should be 1-5/8"

    Finally, the Mounting Bracket:
The typical Buick Skylark/GS (A-body or F-body) bracket tabs are angled whereas the X-body tabs are straight as shown in the image below. The distance between mounting holes is shorter on the X-body:

I've come across a few 1975 and newer X-body mirror sets with the same "X" and "O" casted letters so I believe this design carried on to 1980.

Here’s a list of the part numbers/casting numbers for the early X-body mirrors: (71-75)
    Drivers side assembly number: 9882068
    Passenger side assembly number: 9626974
Driver side pedestal casting (71-73+?): 32485
Drivers side housing casting (71-73+?): 29853
Passenger side pedestal casting (71-73+?): 32475
Passenger side housing casting (71-73+?): 35013
    Pass/driver gasket: 9877665 (1701311 = 75 and up)
    Pass/driver mounting bracket: 9847197

Here’s the list of makes and models that share these sport mirrors:
    73-75 Buick Apollo
    75-79 Buick Skylark
    71-79 Chevrolet Nova
    73-79 Oldsmobile Omega
    71-77 Pontiac Ventura
    77-79 Pontiac Phoenix
    1974 Pontiac GTO

I believe after 1975 Studs showed up in the passenger side mirror.
