Decided to make the voyage to Commerce with the lumpy Ramrod and run it in the FAST class. Somebody has to be the anchor. This is assuming Y1 will stick with the format of a shootout of the F.A.S.T. 8 and the rest run a 2/3 match race by e.t., I'm in. We don't need a long cool off for the F/S cars, so can round robin and run them off pretty quick while the big boys cool off.

Will be travelling down on I-75 on 10/7, not sure where I'm staying yet, and motoring over to B'ham, Alabama after the event for a little golf and R & R with my brother. Anybody want to hook up, let me know.

Maybe even get this cam changed......................or at least wipe off the bugs from Stanton......

Thanks Steve H.,I wasnt aware Keith from year one decided to drop the FS class;not enough cars commited to the race;I may still bring the car and run in FAST if they run it as Dave H. stated.Any help on the car count for the English town ,NJ race.May bring the car there in November.Muscle Cars are made to be driven not sitting under a car cover.Like Copo Pete always says, drive it like ya stole it.Chris

    Chris,

Bummer about them cancelling FS but it sounds like we'll still have a class to race in (FAST) and 2 outta 3 shootouts will be part of it. So I hope you still plan on coming! I don't to be the only one from Fla!

Although I'll be probabily be the slowest in the class, it looks like we'll get plenty of track time! :TU:

Just made reservations at the Ramada in Commerce. This should be great, and already looking forward to the April meet. Lotsa crappy Michigan weather between now and then, though.

    First wheelie on Polyglas?

I know they're offering a bounty for the first car in the 10's, but they should also offer a bounty for the first car that grabs some air on Polyglas. That's awesome. :TU:

Course it looks like a Glasgo car sitting still with that "Akron Look".

    Yep - I'm goin'

My sister-in-law and her husband have relocated to GA and we're going down to see them. Of course, I timed it to check out the Commerce Challenge! :Brow: We too will be driving down on 10/7 - taking US41 all the way down through Indiana. 725 miles in one day - easy!
I'll be in Hoschton which is about 20 miles west of Commerce.
I might as well watch some more before I really tear into the GP - and give it the AKRON LOOK! :pp
If anyone needs wrenching assistance please post.
    I hope there's a good turn-out - NO MORE HURRICANES, PLEASE!

Dave, my W-30 was delivered to B'ham (Gadsden, actually) Alabama back in November of '69. If you could hunt down its original owner, I'd buy you a case of your favorite ballast. You might wanna explain to your coonass brother that "hunt down" doesn't mean he gets to use his gun.

For a case of beer, I'm sure I can find some good old boy down there to say he was the original owner. I'll be going over there (Birmingham) after the race and since my F250's from there, it may be a little reluctant to return to Michigan with the lovely winter right around the corner. Nice warm toasty garage this year.

I recall "hunt down" is the same as "look up", isn't it? Wonder if that phrase had anything to do with guys who sit in deer stands for hours on end and occasionally get shot at. One guy we know here was shot (with a rifle) while up in his stand. Hunter said he thought he was a squirrel. Gotta love all those drunks in the woods with 30-30's. "It was a kangaroo! I swear it!"

In case anyone has read about the roll bar rule brouhaha on the Y-1 board, I just got off the phone with Dave Dudek and according to him, race is still on, and roll bars not enforced until 11.50's. If you were planning showing up, do so.
