My brother and his kid have a project car going right now. It's a 68 GS. My nephew is 16 and loves the GSX, so of course he wants to paint the 68 like a yellow GSX. I'm trying to convince him that the 68-69 body style will look like a hoopty if you try to paint it like a GSX. Has anyone ever seen this done, or better yet have pictures? I'm trying to help him make a decision he won't regret when he gets a little older. Am I crazy? I can't imagine it would look good.
I wouldn't do a 68/69 in GSX clone styling, just isn't right, imho. Maybe shopping for a 70-72 Skylark to clone instead would be an option? I've seen some pics of a 68/69 with stripes/spoiler and didn't care much for it.
The 68-69 has sexy styling, the lines and the hood are big parts of the cars look, in my opinion, the 70 and up are a bit more bulky, square, less of the nice smooth lines that the 69 had, much squarer rear quarter windows, and the 70's need a bit extra to spruce them up, thus the GSX, I'm not knocking the 70, I think there all cool, just imo.
