ZDDPlus - ZDDP Oil Additive joins F.A.S.T. as a Series Sponsor

ZDDPlus has joined up with F.A.S.T. as a Series Sponsor for the 2008 season. ZDDPlus is an oil additive designed to restore the ZDDP in modern engine oils.

The first National Event of 2008 will be the June 20-21 NPD-ZDDPlus F.A.S.T. Spring Nationals held at US 131 in Martin Michigan.

F.A.S.T. looks forward to introducing F.A.S.T. participants and fans with the ZDDPlus product. We all own and drive many pre-ODB cars with flat tappet hydraulic and solid camshafts, Modern engine oil has reduced the ZDDP additive to extend catalytic convertor life, but older engines with flat tappet cams need the extreme pressure lubricating ability of ZDDP. A 4oz. bottle of ZDDPlus added to 5 quarts of motor oil will restore the ZDDP to their proper levels. We will be giving away many free bottles of ZDDPlus at the 2008 Spring Nationals for evaluation, but to be eligable, you must Pre-Register.

For more information on ZDDPlus, visit the F.A.S.T. website.

I've been running Shell Rotella Synthetic in my Power Stroke ever since they changed the regular Rotella T to meet the new CJ-4 specs from our buddies in Washington. It is still CI-4 Plus rated, but soon to be also updates to CJ-4.

With the cost of it and 13 quart oil changes every 3000 miles, using the synthetic is a very costly alternative. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depends upon how you look at it), oil changes are much more infrequent with the fuel cost keeping it parked 90% of the time now.

Wonder what oil I could run with this ZDDP additive that would give the same protection as the CI-4 Plus in our older diesels?

    Jim Haas? Others?

Dave, you're changing oil in the PS every 3K miles? :eek2: For comparison, my 04 Duramax takes 10 quarts, but oil changes are every 10K miles.

Mine has 198k on it and has been changed with that frequency since new. Most diesel enthusiasts on the Ford Diesel Stop website (where I found this truck for sale) highly recommend this due to fuel dilution. Must be based on something as it isn't cheap to do that. My truck had 154k when I got it 4 years ago.

These engines are easily running to 500k miles, getting the fuel contaminants out of the oil regularly has to help. Besides the drained oil is great for starting the burn pile out back. Try that with clean oil or from a gas engine. It doesn't work very well. Gotta be the kerosene in the used diesel oil.

Every 10k? That'll get you to the end of warranty (maybe), after that they'd be glad to sell you a new one again that'll have to run on hot donkey piss at that time, no doubt.

I'll never be able to afford a new truck again, so this one's gotta last.
