I am reaching out to see who can make a referral to a repair shop that can handle a second opinion on an engine problem with a 1984 Grand Wagoneer. The non mechanically inclined owner has been told it has a broken piston ring and that is why it's smoking. No more information given at this time. The shop needs to be proficient and doing compression and leak down tests as well as go through all the other items to make sure.
Just in case a couple of shops would be better than just one.

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I have a great mechanic that use to work for me. Al Alcala he now works at Friendly Ave Tire & Service shop in Greensboro. If Al cant be the mechanic to look at it dont even bother taking your car to them BUT..... if you can get him to work on the car he will do a good job. Very detail oriented and gets to the root of the problem not just some parts swap guy.
