My car currently has the stock 231 ,I have no idea how this really works but i found a 1969 430 that has no accessories or mounts, and wanted to know what all do i need as far as extra parts and mounts to make this work, will anything swap over?.thanks
Get a set of frame pads, motor mounts and a welder. Lower the engine down into the car and line up exactly where you want it then tack the pads into place( if you are using steel). Pull the engine mount bolts, lift it out then secure the pads permanently using the welder or drill and bolt. Remember to check for transmission alignment.
headers should not be a problem on a 78(they are on a 73 -75 appolo) you will need a transmission also you may need to upgrade your rear if you have the 7.5 if you have the 8.5 it should be all good j
Ok.thanks allot , i am going to buy the engine this week and was hoping everything could be put together
The frame pads are not likely to be steel, they'll be either cast iron or aluminum and you'll have to bolt them in. Using the A-body frame pads, in my experience five of the six holes line up with holes already in the sub-frame, and the sixth hole just has to be elongated a bit. The mounts have the threading, so you bolt them in from below and that requires the lower control arms to be removed. Use lock washers and loc-tite, you don't want to re-visit them. I bolted all the 231 accessories to the V8 heads and used longer belts. The engine wiring harness should reach the alternator, sensors, etc. The fan shroud will have to be trimmed, and the fuel line to the pump may need to be a little longer. I used shorty headers but think full length will probably fit.
