So final update I changed my HEI setup to a standard GM style HEI and dialed it in at 14* initial, i upgraded my Alternator to a 140 Amp 1 wire Summit Unit and i put in a new Starter ( 96' Roadmaster Unit) Yes my starter was bad and i ve seen a big voltage drop there... on the Aces unit i found that i connected the wrong vacuum advanced port on the TBI I dialed in the IAC simply by the set screw anywhere between 0- 60 @idle. Thing runs smooth starts right up and fun to drive. Works as a EFI should work.!! So i think its worth the $ over a carb.
I just did the first start up with the Killshot this weekend. I had a few thing bothering me and I think you can help me out with that. The first start up was hard because the computer was shutting down. I suspected the starter to draw too many amps. I then plugged the IGN wire directly onto a battery port in the fusebox and it started immediatly. I was thinking about plugging the IGN on this source and add a switch. Sounds good? I have an old starter too, it might not help... Killshot instructions says the system need to have 42 to 48 PSI minimum of fuel pressure. My fuel pump is pushing 60. Have you heard about the maximum psi it can take? Thanks so much,
Yes the system needs min 11.8 V which is already low i think , in general EFI systems run best with anything above 13v during operation(driving) I installed a lil Fuse box ( amazon) from my Ign. fuse panel port ( 12v Keyed) and mounted it under the dash. i run all my ACC of this 12 v keyed port panel EFI, HEI , FANS, El Pump It makes wiring clean as well https://www.amazon.com/Circuit-Wate...23-a4de-357bc6a84673&pd_rd_i=B096Z1WNLW&psc=1 if you wire it directly to the battery port put a fuse in. a switch will work of course , is it a 12v keyed battery port or constant hot? if constant hot and you forget to switch it off it will drain your battery ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I put a fuel pressure regulator in since the Killshot doesn't have internal regulator works like a charm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0894H6G2Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 i dont know the max pressure but i assume 60psi is fine if you have a return , but i would call there tech support. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What engine do you have ? i got a starter of a 96 Caprice/ Roadmaster... that bolts right up to the 455. what alternator output do you have ? Do you run any other electric acc?.
Wise answers so far, thank you so much Engine is a pretty hoped up 455 with a TA 288 92h cam, Edlebrock heads, etc. The FP I have is this one : https://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-36032 I've kept the STG1 mechanical FP I'll have a proper fuse pannel for accessories like you suggested. Right now I have fans (rad with fans isn't installed yet, but it will be in a few days), HEI, EFI, 2 x 12V USB sources on the IGN wire. It'll be a lil more tidy with a second fuse box. I am changing my alternator as well, the one I have is new but it's a 80 amp iirc. That probably didn't help. I'll be installing a 140 amp as you suggested previously Starter is a stock unit for now. Seems to be working fine, but might be drawing more amp than it should
Make a video i would love to see/hear it running.. i also found that "MY WIZARD" set my Cranking fuel pretty High so i had to much fuel, ( ithink it was 156%) i set it to 100% and it starts much better I cant remember where it was : FUEL - Basic tuning i think
Any update from anybody with an aces setup? Been looking to snag one but hard to find actual running driving setups out there
No worries, I actually pulled the trigger and it showed up today. For $600 it seemed worth the gamble
You cant go wrong with it Just sort out your fuel system right away use a FUEL SURGE TANK, to feed from the OEM mechanical pum into the SURGE TANK and then from there to the KILLSHOT , on the return plumb in a EFI regulator to min. 43psi i used this parts : the Fuel SUrge tNka comes in single and dual the Dual is pretty cool to additionally feed a NITROUS system ( you would need an additional regulator for the nitrous as well... But that would make the fuel delivery easy
I have a Rick’s tanks restomod tank with a pump already, 8an feed and 6an return along with a flex fuel sensor bypass kit.
Perfect , if the pump has a regulator built in you can run it directly ... just get teh proper filters post and pre for EFI
I’ll probably just buy an aeromotive regulator. My pump certainly doesn’t have one. I started laying it all out last night and need to order some more -8 fittings. I’m future proofing so I don’t have to redo it with more hp/boost/terminator x setup.
Ok, this is more of a joke. But anyone remember these? I bought it when I was around 18 years old. And started drag racing at the track. Got sick of changing jets so thought this was a great idea. Change fuel mixture by a dial inside the car. Never installed it. But still have it in nos. I think it’s kinda funny with the old tech
