Ok, i've been able to get to 3 test n tunes and I can't get the skylark to hook, my 60' times range from 1.99-2.07 with the 1.99 only happening once. I'm running a SBB 350. 10 to 1 JE pistons, balanced rotating assembly, polished crank, stock rods, (the motor is a 68) custom ground cam from JW, stock heads, (new valves, guides, springs and seats) no porting, (waiting on alum heads) TA stage 1 intake, TA hei dist. and headers, Holley 750 DP JW special torque converter, TH400, 3.23 posi, new springs and bushings Mickey Thomson 255/60/15 drag radials. I've dropped the air pressure all the way down to 14psi and they are still spinning a bit off the line. I have varied the launch rpm from 2000-3000 and air pressure from 20-14, 18lbs and 3000 launch really lights em up. I have done small burnouts and not so small, (no John Force). No wheel hop just getting a bit of spinning off the line. I can find no postings on here about Xbody traction problems. Thanks, Keith
I'm no help, my best 60ft is like 1.85, and most the time it's 1.95-2.10. For what it's worth, I run my drag radial's at 17 psi and leave slipping the clutch at 2,500rpm. Any more or even dumping the clutch at 2,500rpm it'll light the tires up. These cars use the same rear subframe stuff as first gen F-bodies, so the traction aids from them bolt on. I have a pair of slapper bars on mine.

This is what I ran under the Apollo and this system works much better than the old slapper bar set up. https://www.calvertracing.com/index.php Marv.
I will eventually go with the caltracs but I think for now I'm going to put on the set of slapper bars that I pulled off a nova parts car, put the poly rear spring bushings in that I have, run it again in 2wks and then it will have to wait a few months for other comitments that I have
X2 on the calvert bars. I run them on a 78 z28 on stock leaf springs. On 28x10.5 slicks consistant 1.30s 60 ft times
I'm going to put some cal-tracs on my '69 Firebird. If they do well I'll put a set on the Skylark too. Though I know a guy with a '78 Nova that runs low-10's with slapper bars, but a lot wider tire than I run.
Does unhooking the front sway bar really help? The rear springs are fairly new, wondering if removing the bottom leaf will soften the ride and help the weight transfer. Keith
