I just realized over the last couple days I'm not getting emails from threads I've subscribed to. I cleared the cache on both this site and my Gmail, closed both apps, restarted my device and still nothing. My settings are set up to receive emails to subscribed threads as well. Anyone else experiencing this?
In the early days of V8, I use to get e mail notifications about subscribed threads. I haven't gotten those notifications in many years. I do get notifications about private messages though.
gmail is a crapshoot with the board's emails.. It thinks everything is spam.. so the notifications are either in your spam folder, or you don't get them at all. This started some time back when we moved to the latest provider.. and they assigned us a block of IP addresses that a spammer once had, and were on everyone's black list. I got them off most all the other providers, but gmail won't budge, even after multiple attempts to clear our IP's off thier list.
This has been a problem for me too for a few years...I dont get email notifications regarding threads or private messages. As far as I know my settings are set for notifications? I dont have g mail. Tom
Can I ask who is your mail host? The part after the @? The reason I ask is there are many hosts that actually use gmail behind the scenes. I wonder if yours is one of them?
This board is run on leased servers, with a pop based email service.. we don't use an outside internet based provider for email. The problem lies with the fact that when we moved to the latest host, they assigned us a block of emails that had once been used by spammers, and these IP addresses were on the big email services blacklist. I worked hard to jump thru the hoops to get our IP addresses changed, and to also get them off the blacklist. Gmail has been particularly difficult to deal with, and to date, I have not been able to solve that riddle. If I send and email from my "admin@v8buick.com" email account, to my personal gmail account, it ends up in the spam folder every time. JW
Actually I was asking the Tom (Wildcat GS) who his mail host was, sorry if I was unclear... I have had to deal with being "blacklisted" before and it's annoying. Thanks for the explanation. Excellent directions above too, thanks!
