Hate to see the Alfa catch it though. I don't think his cell phone is going to work in.......2 or 3 seconds.:TU:
Yeah... but it would be a 5Ton full o S*%T... and you know I'd brake really..really hard...an no tailgate...
The only time you would have hit the brakes was for a beer stop or to look at a Buick on the roadside .
Alright fellas, what do you do for that person that is intentionally driving on your tail when you're already going five over ? Especially when you're in your Buick !!! Oh man, nothing gets me more pissed !!!   One guy did this and I tried to politely wave him back. You know, just back off tell I turn. He just shook his head and gave me a dirty look in my rear view mirror and continued. I swear I wanted to rip his head off I was so pissed. But... instead I managed to keep my composer and just pulled over and let him go on by as he flipped me off. It was very hard for me to do that. It would of been very easy to get in to a confrontation. So what do you guys do in this situation of a stubborn tailgater ? Sorry, hope I didn't hi-jack anyone's tread. Thanks, June.
Naw, you did the right thing. Idiots like that are a real PITA, and are best left to their own demise. But I will admit (SS-Truck knows) I would have just followed him and beat the sh*t outta him when I got my hands on him. Keep doing the right thing...kudos to ya!! (an a beer :beers2: )
I wired in a separate toggle switch for my backup lamps when I put a Hurst shifter in this car. Lightly hitting the brake pedal (to turn on the brake lights) and flipping on the backup lamps on worked very well to get people to back off. Hard to miss these up high. :bglasses: I sure liked that car......
Dave, I did the same thing in my 66 Galaxie some 30 years ago. Worked excellent!! Occasionally though, I'd just mash the go pedal, and leave 'em in dust. That car had a big port/valve 351 Cleveland, which was somewhat warmer than stock.
Years ago an old timer truck driver told me they used to drop a handfull of ball bearings out the window. Took care of tailgators and high beams in their west coast mirrors. I imagine it did!
I slowed down... to the speed limit at the most, sometimes 5 under:Brow: :Brow: When traffic cleared, and they tried to pass... I'd smash it leaving them behind:3gears: .... then slow down again, 5 mph SLOWER than I was going before. It never took more than once for them to get the point:laugh:  If they backed off, I'd speed back up to normal (10 above...lol). I used to stab the brakes... just quick and hard enough to dive the front end. But once I did that in a 30mph zone, and the lady behind me over corrected and ditched. I felt kindof bad about it, but would've been alot worse if that would've been someones yard she drove into.
If you're having problems with tailgaters, you're driving too slow! p Did you ever notice that the older you get, the more tailgaters you attract??? Trust me, they are not trying to get a better look at your hat! :bla: 5 over? Whats with that. Were you in a funeral procession??? Yugos, mopeds, old ladies in Ramblers and Buicks who can't even see over the wheel go 10 over. Those of us who have places to go need you turtles to get with the program or get out of the way!
UH....OK!!!! Here's another: Actually this one was my brothers' car. 389 2 barrel automatic Mine was a duplicate (same color, interior, top) except was a 61 with a 389 4 barrel and a factory 3 speed on the column with 8 lugs. They were a neat pair together, somewhere there's a pic of that. Mine was a lot faster. :bglasses: Love to have either one right now.
Where's the fan? You know; the $417 is going to hit the fan. maybe the person in the alfa is an fan of the truck driver. Yeah, there biggest fan.
