is the rear bumper on that car ok ? mine is completely rusted thru ou: i know a yard that has a bumper for my car but re chroming it over here will cost me ( to ) much money ( think in terms of like 800$ a piece :eek2: ) and a right wheel well would be welcome as well. Mine is almost to far gone to fix it since i've only got the outer lines left and i could use the bumper fillers that are under the lights and in the middle if they're not cracked Thanx ray :beers2:
im going to look at the car today, rear quarters are excellent condition, not sure about bumper or fillers.ill let you know later. ________ Russian recipes
I'm thinking of abandoning this project since i've found this car its basically the same car though but without the warped panels and it's supposed to be rust free though. My idea is that i can have a car then that i can first restore mechanically since i've got plenty parts left then from the other one. And than leter i can have the bodywork done maybe even myself since it looks to be pretty straight and a big + is that it's a original GS if i remember right ( only 1200 something made ) but will go to have a look first this Saturday and then think it over since i must scrap the body or/and chassis of the other one :ball: ( no space for it though ) This is the car ( sorry for the long link forgot how it worked to shorten them Btw it's all in dutch :bla: http://auto.marktplaats.nl/buick/221229621-buick-century-coupe-1974-met-wat-technisch-werk.html Greetz Lennard
That's Ren's car. Just delete everything behind html: http://auto.marktplaats.nl/buick/221229621-buick-century-coupe-1974-met-wat-technisch-werk.html
yep true i sent him a e-mail if i can have a look at it this Saturday i'm curious to see if it was this car ( maybe you know ) http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=127093&highlight=75+gs It sure looks like it could have been if i look at the bumper and trailer hitch and stuff Greetz Lennard
aha ok the original colors don't look bad on that car it's a shame they made it flat black any rust on the car that you know of ? it seems to be an original dutch car since it was first registered in 19-09-1975 Do you think it could be built in antwerpen ? or just exported from the usa very early ? Greetz Lennard
well just decided to finish the car here are some ( a lot actualy ) pictures of what i've been doing on the car for the last few months Rear sway bar mock up I've also found this strange mark. It wasn't a crack but i welded it just to be sure and grinded it smooth again some new parts the chassis is currently at the blaster with the suspension it will be done on Friday if everything go's ok also friday i will receive some brake parts and stuff so more pics friday  Greetz Lennard
Got the chassis and suspension and stuff back from the blaster i'll let the pics do the talking this time :bglasses: lowers still need boxing ( hence no paint ) And the new parts : Greetz Lennard
Wow, that looks great. At the moment you´re nearly at the same point as I am on my 57 Bel Air. All you´ve done was hard and dirty work. Now you can go on with the "fun part". Putting the rebuilt, repainted or reconditioned stuff together with nice new parts. Ohh man, I like it. Very impressive sheet metal work. You will love this car. Ohh, I´m nearly sure you did before you strated this project. If not, you wouldn´t do it like that. Great job.
Always nice to see these post 72 cars been restored, gives me the boost needed to complete my own 73 stage 1. Throwing out a little motivation booster myself :Brow:
That looks very good i wish that i had that kind of engine in the bay At the moment just busy getting everything here and asembelijng painting some small stuff and so on Greetz Lennard
Small things usually take the most time:TU: BTW I'm also from Europe, Estonia to be specific, right below the Finland. Veljo
aha ok have you also been to the big meet in sweden once ? I;ve been there in 2007 Never saw of of these A body buicks ( post 72 then :moonu: ) cars there in between 10.000 cars I'd love to go with it when it's done but that's still a long way to go in more than 1 way :beer Greetz Lennard
Have never been there but definitely planning on going, maybe even kthis year, still a lot of work to do with my car... Veljo
Here is a real '75 Century Gran Sport that is for sale in Orlando Fla. It is a very loaded car with a built up '70 455 and Stage 1 TH400 trans and a 3.73 posi rear for $5K. It even has the original paint but needs a redo. The inside is in beautiful shape.
These are very interesting cars and the last year for the GS. The eng/trans isn't original to this car,of course. It is a very stout running car.Lots of Kenne-Bell parts in the engine. I like the color combo but just have too many other things going on to try and buy this one.It is very tempting, though. It has tilt, cruise, rallye gages,p.windows,p.trunk,6 way driver seat,a/c. All of the plastic interior trim is excellent. The guy is even throwing in a pair of the plastic chrome trim that goes on the 1/4 glass, which are quite rare.
