Yep, lower is my vote as well.

Very nice work, wish I had those skills. Would have saved a lot on my 69 project.

I can't wait to see this finished.

    Hey guys,

I thought I would update this thread and show you the progress on the tailgate.

My original goal for the tailgate modifications was to give it the distinctive lines of the Electra deck lid. It was to be a subtle change...styling that looked as though Buick had originally made the tailgate this way.

There was a time or two, when I thought, why can't I just leave well enough alone. There was nothing wrong with the original tailgate, and now I have cut it up for nothing.

But now, I am glad I went ahead and did it! It turned out exactly as I invisioned. :TU:

    Looks pretty good, huh?

Very nice project you got going on. Can't wait to see it when it's all done.

My first car was a '72 Estate Wagon, 9 passenger with woodgrain. My dad bought it in 1986 and I grew up in that car, we put about 90,000 miles in it. We sold it when I was 17 in 2001 for $1,200 to a buy who was going to restore it. Here is a picture:

Those are some nice character lines in the tailgate. Very nice job. If you need - well, you don't need help - but if you ever want any help, I live in the DFW area and would be happy to jump in with some grunt work. You have a nice project, there.

That thing is coming out awesome!
Only thing stopping me from doing something like that is lack of imagination and skills!
