Here's a recent shot of the Riviera taken this summer 2011 at our regular Kanta cruise night (...every Tursday). There is also a You Tube video taken at Kanata, a couple of years ago - enjoy !! :beer :TU: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ45bzQbIlQ
Thought I would show mine, which is a work in progress. Drive line is almost done, putting on a 4bbl when the weather warms up a bit, then boxing in the rear end. The current upper and lower control arms are a little weak, even after I changed the bushings all the way around the vehicle. Story is, on my last trip to Iraq (2009 - 2010) my wife bought it for me for xmas, and hid it in the garage until my return. After the driveline and new rims (cragar ss stock 14" are what I want) I have to find a body shop willing to do the rust removal. I want new quarters and fenders, not some putty. Then paint original color...Basically. I want pearl white instead of the stock white. Lucky me my oldest son is in vo-tech for colision repair, so he may be able to help. My goal on this is all original, with upgrades that would have been available back in the day. Here is a list of the stuff I have already done: 1968 Buick Skylark, hardtop, 2 door, 350-2, ST300 tranny ( I recently found out a previos owner must have replaced the motor or intake with the standard tranny version) Front drums gone-SBC disk conversion complete. All brake plumbing redone with new parts custom made by me with pipe benders all springs and shocks replaced All bushings replaced 2 bbl replaced with 4bbl - the same setup - iron intake and 4gv carb available back in 68 ST300 replaced with a TH350 Engine pulled, cleaned, broken and worn parts replaced, everything cleaned and put back together Done before I got it: New Vinyl top new carpet seats re upholstered (due to prolonged exposer to the weather and incorrect installation, they will be redone by my wife, who happens to do upholstery for fun and a little profit) Rims cheap knock offs by pace that have rust. Future: (as money/time allow) New front bumper (previous owner side swiped the police in a diabetic shock) new passenger door skin, both fenders and quarters 14x6 front and 14x 8 rear crager ss wrapped in coker redlines new headliner (again, the wife) New steering wheel (If I can find an uncracked original) Stereo hidden in glove box with 6x9's in the rear deck (original am radio installed and works with the repro speaker installed) Anything else I can find Sorry this post is so long. I wasn't always a buick fan, my dream car is a 1969 fastback mustang. But I have come to the good side now.
You sure did; 69 Mustang Fastback definately is a nice car, but a Buick you won't find that often at car meetings as the Ford.
Out of all the car shows I went to last year I only found one other skylark and it was a red 65. Also all the guys seemed to agree I should show mine, even if its not done yet. How do you guys feel about that? Should a car thats in the progress of being restored but very drivable be shown? I really want to go to the Salina KS show next summer, Friday night they do a parade and and 1/4 mile drags for fun.
Re: One of my other cars I'd like to see more pix of this car......if/when ya get around to it. Thanks, Jeff ---------- Post added at 01:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 PM ---------- I wouldn't mind seeing some pix of your jet boat if ya have the time. Thanks, Jeff
Sportn'Wood now has just over 31,000 miles after this years' (2012) 1,200 mile road trip to the BPG Nats and back ... in air-conditioned comfort
Hey Alan, Now I can see why you call your Sport Wagon "Sport'n Wood". Gorgeous Buicks and gorgeous women. :Brow: Life is good.
