It sounded to me the $75 was to put the new cable in my block, not to remove existing...

    Touch LOL

Just want to make sure I get a good cable, correctness is secondary

The quote I got was to attach the cable to the block and it was a $35 charge. They told me that the block needed the old cable removed. They didn't even give me the option. I will pm you the quote.

Don't. use the mickey mouse bolt on types. Use the one they show in the picture. They are called Spring Ring and they are correct. They twist on and off.................Richie, Make sure when you get the 72 style(side post) that you insist they make a complete red positive cable. They will tell you their blue prints show the cable was black with a red end but they are wrong. I have seen many origs and they were all red. They will make the red if you insist. If you get a black pos cable I hope Duane does not judge your car.

Dave, I asked for a completely "red" one. I found a picture on line showing the correct one from M & H with the correct markings from an original 72 cable.

Took off the plastic block today. Didn't take too long.

Here's what I found. Someone wrapped it on tape a long time ago. I think I was due for new cables.

I'll be sending the block to AA for them to install a new cable.

Curtis, Here is another suggestion. Ask them if they can re-use your original cable starter end metal connector. The new ones do not have the small hook that fits into the groove on the solenoid. I know you may not be into the originality of it but It is nice to have as it keeps the cable in the correct position when you tighten the nut. If you do not care just cut it off and I will buy it from you.

They won't use any original parts. I've tried and tried.

AA said they use a starter terminal connector just like GM with the bent over tab. I'll see when it gets here.

Curtis, let us know on that when you get it. Mine had one without it.

Battery cables are nice pieces. They did not charge me to run it through the plastic block or to drill it out. Turnaround time was fast also.

You were right that the positive terminal for the starter does not have that bent over part. The terminal itself is bent over but it doesn't have that tongue. Not a big importance to me but it would've been nice.

Overall I'm happy and hope you get them installed in the next day.

Do they actually glue the block to the new cable or is it capable of moving?

I can slide the wire in the block

So what's the proper method to attach to the battery? Just tap them on with a mallet or something?

No mallet! You can damage the posts + plates inside the battery. You squeeze the tangs on the end with a large pair of pliers or Channelocks held vertically and put them on. It's super easy. The ends are soft, you have to be careful you don't mangle them with jumpers.

    No Mallett! Noted.. :Smarty:

It took me about an hr to get the positive cable on the car.
Trying to push the wire though the block to the right spot while its almost at a 90 angle to go to the starter postivie post is a chore.
Then trying to line up the small bolts for the metal holder... man what a job.

Need to put in the new battery now and then test drive.
