Just when I thought there were no crap boxes to harvest out of this area, one turns up... Saw an ad on Craigs for Skylark parts. Went to see what he had and wound up buying most of what he had and the car he wanted to part out. Got it for my usual . I can probably sell the GS air cleaner and recoup my money. Too bad he had already sold the right fender and wheel well though.... Anyway, its a 72 Skylark Custom with a (supposedly) rebuilt 350 and rebuilt T-350, dual exhaust and buckets/ console. The trunk was a treasure trove of goodies as well. Even found a set of NOS headlight adjusters. still in the GM bag. Poor car is rotted bad and sat on the side of the sellers house for literally 20 years. Never saw a rally wheel with so much rot!! Found the original papers in the glove- bought new at Raymond Buick in Bay Shore NY. Original owner lived a few mikes away in Babylon. Sold to the guy I bought it from in nearby Brentwood. Now in Bohemia. The car never left the area. Just goes to show you, they're still out there. Im going to get it running and do burnouts with it this weekend. Maybe clean up the buckets and console. I hate to part cars out, but I don't think this one marketable whole. Still have one more bed full of parts from his house this weekend.
"The car never left the area." Judging by the rust, maybe it should have. Can you really get this thing running? And burnouts? You really are a wizard!
Sure hope you didn't pay much. looks like a gs air cleaner and a set of "restorable" buckets to me. If you paid more that 250, I'da walked... Unless you know some rich dumbass that wanted some parts before doing any research
The Swamp Thing!!! If the rust isn't too far past surface rust, save it. :idea2: It is even worse than it seems in the pics, Old Yeller that thing.
Cmon over! I have a case of ice cold heineys I got as payment for fixing a neighbor's car. We'll throw a few burgers on the grill after we rip the rear tires off it!!
How you rust belt guys do it is beyond me. If I see something like that I don't even slow down. Spoiled by the desert, that must be it.
Yeah, the term "some rust" means something different depending where you live! When I bought my 70 GS, the lady told me it has a "dent" in the quarter panel. I guess in Colorado its called a dent. In NY, it's considered a door ding
As a side note, the guy I bought it from must of had a 100 cats in his house. As soon as I walked in I regretted it. I almost passed out. It was like an episode of Hoarders. I left and couldn't get the smell out of my lungs and nose. It was BAD. I left and vomited up the block from his house in the middle of the street.
