Fred, Great News! I think you always knew you had a 4 speed, but now you can prove it! Nice! You are in for Doc's
Rich, We have only 8 non stage 455 4 speeds and 2 non stage 455 4speed convertibles so far. Do you know of how many non stage 455 3speed cars are there? The only 3 speed numbers I can find is (18) non stage 455 convertibles. Does anyone have 3 speed numbers for non stage 455 hard top cars? Thanks Ron
No. But due to their low production #'s they should be included in registry. In the 8 are you including the 2 I have ? Rich
John That is a very unique Hipo bad boy GS 455 convertible! One of my GS 455 4 speed's was ordered with G1 High performance 3.64 posi rear axle as well. There cannot be many:TU:
Rich, Yes, only eight so far and two conv's. We are going to need a lot more! I am sure there are some 3 speed guy's out there with some accurate numbers for the non stage 455 cars. Any help would be great! This is my best guess on hard top non stage 455 3 speed cars (25- 40)????? Thanks Ron
Ron The survival rate on these cars will be low, but I would guess at least 50-100 cars survive today. These cars would have been consumed at a high rate back in the day, thus few surviving the abuse.
Rich, Here are the 3 speed manual numbers for 1970 GS non stage cars provide by a member: For the 70 floor shift 3 speed GS cars: 455 coupe = 82 GS 455 converts = 19 350 coupe = 176 3 speed floor shifts for 1970 model GS 350 and GS 455 floor shifts combined = 277 48 column shift 3 speed 70 GS cars. All of these were in GS 350 coupes. Total Manual 3 speed cars = 325 Thanks Ron
Ron See my post of true production #'s on 3 speed thread. Do not cloud this registry with the 1970 GS 350 cars as it will get too confusing and that was not you intent, so they should be removed.
Gentlemen, We have (8) 1970 GS 455 4 speeds and (2) Convertibles. Do we have anymore Non Stage 1970 455 4 speed cars? How about some Non Stage 1970 GS 455 3 speed on the floor cars? They are welcome!!!!!! Please let me know!:beers2: Thank You! Ron
455, 4-speed & performance axle (G1) -72 coupes (28 Flint, 15 Framingham,18 Leeds, 11 Fremont) -16 convertibles (13 Flint, 1 Leeds, 2 Fremont)
Mine came from the Flint plant as a '70 GS 455 Convertible with 3 speed manual. It had no power steering, no power brakes, no a/c. It did come with AM FM stereo w/8 track and rear speaker, tach, bench seat posi rear and 14" chrome wheels. Original colors were Diplomat Blue with Pearl White interior and White top. Built the 3rd week of October 1969. Ken
Ron, all 1970 GS 455 or GS Stage 1 cars that were not ordered with a transmission option ie ( auto of 4 speed) received HD no cost 3 speed trans on floor. No Big Block GS ever had 3 speed on tree, only on the floor, again, standard, no cost on these cars.
Picking mine up tomorrow hopefully. Sherwood Green stripper model, a kind hearted board member just sent me the Sloan documentation...its not really changed much from OEM. Can't wait to fully discover all of its hidden secrets!
Supposedly a one owner, the guy I got it from had it a month and was just flipping it, havent verified yet but according to Sloan, the car was sent to a Minnesota dealer, and the previous owner's name was like Kowalski...a very MN or WI name. It was cared for very well either way and everything is in great shape. AM radio works like a champ, still has a bias ply spare tire and plastic on the rear seat divider. Only options are PS, power brakes, and tach/rally gauge. Front and rear spoiler were added a while ago. Supposedly the Mallory coil/ign it has was a dealer installed item, certainly looks OEM. Carb checks out as a proper 7040243 4 speed carb. Still cannot find block numbers other than a 54 by the dipstick.
70 GS 455 4spd currently is a project that will be started in spring. Gulfstream Blue, Black interior, black Top Built Kansas City Sold Taylor TX
Phil, Great Car! keep us updated on the project. We have you on the list. My 4 speed was built in Kansas also. Thanks, Ron
