Besides pliers, what's an effective tool to apply these potentially dangerous clamps? And save an eye.....
Thanks Dave, I should be good here. I did send a PM expressing my condolences to you and Marleen (sp) in case you missed it. I'm sorry for your loss....
These are Craftsman. I found them years ago in the Automotive tool isle. They are meant for the wire type. They have slot for big and small clamp and rotate. As you push on with the pliers the lower loop of the clamp will fight you. Push on bottom of clamp with a non sharp tool. I like a nut driver. Also wet the hose with anti freeze and clamp will slide right on. It’s recommended in the assembly manual. For the flat band bypass hose type find a rod or drift that fits inside the bypass hose put the clamp over the rod and use any pliers to get the clamps on the hose first and push them up far enough. The drift prevents the clamps from flying off in your face. Once they are on the hose they are safe and cant fly off. Then put the hose on and slide the clamps over the hump with pliers. Again employ the wet ant freeze trick...
I use a wide headed pair of Vise Grips for installation. You clamp it on the clip and the plyers hold it just fine. Then you put it on the hose, slide the hose on, and put it where you want. Duane
