72 GS Grille colors ...last minute for the X

I have been informed that the grille that is currently in the 72 X is a Skylark grille...at least it's painted Skylark colors. I need the correct paint scheme for this grille for a GS.

What I am hearing so far is black horizontal bars all through the middle of the grille, and black egg crates. Complete surround is still argent.

    What say ye?

You pic is right on Adam. On the original GS grilles Ive seen, they didn't mask off where the black passes over the tongue of the grille. They just ran the spray gun right across . So the line where it transitions to the tongue is fuzzy. It shouldn't be a hard line. I took a picture how I tried to duplicate what the factory did. I should of made it sloppier but my OCD kicked in

And, its my belief that the grill in the car is not original to the car. Looks like a GM replacement. The original grill I think would be gray plastic.

Looks good, although that vertical silver piece between the bars and the egg crates should be black too. Just saying...

Ah. I was using the photo I posted as example. I really just needed confirmation that my grille was not painted correctly. I’ll leave it this way for now. Thanks. It’ll be an easy fix to paint the vertical bar. I kinda like it though :D

yeah, I didn't notice the vertical piece in the first photo. For some reason it came up kinda small in the thread.

Tom, the fire is lit! I have 36 hours until we load for the trip. Mike will be here in an hour with bumpers and wheels. Coffee is on.

Still going to try firing it up tomorrow PM if all goes well.

Looks like the Framingham car has the vertical painted. Maybe a better picture of that area would be great.

I sold the car this summer. I believe that is only picture I took of the grille. The car had 61k miles on it and the grille was perfect.

I posted grille info in wrong post .
This is a couple of pictures of an original 72 GS grille, notice it is not a high gloss black.
