Well the cats' not outa the bag yet, but "maybe" some news by this afternoon.. LUKE! Use the Force and check your PM's... ws
I was wondering why you were so quite lately. I hope it works out and is your Christmas present. UticaGeoff
Let's see... He referenced larks and cats.... I'm gonna guess Wildcat? Inquiring minds, wanna know! Jim/Rott
Well, well, well... Got a few confessions to man up on today, since its Christmas and working with COAL for 30 years , I sure didnt want any lumps this year LOL... Me n Pat have been on a mission for the last six months to find something with a 4 speed thats not a total roach. The pickins are slim in this category fellas! I didnt have 20K to blow on a project and 10K didnt buy much either. I was really getting disappointed and then fell into a few deals. One was a 1967 SS396 138 car, with a small block/4 speed (not running), pretty roached out with a 396 in pcs to go along with it for 6K. Asking was 7500! It just didnt hit me. The next one was a 67 olds gutless ragtop with no power and no interior with a ton of amateur bondo, plus no title for 1500. I get fatigued just thinking about this...Then it happened. ws
Just perusing CL as a last lost cause, Pat spots this guy... Its nothing "SPECIAL" but wait, it gets better. The seller bought this from the estate of an old lady, who was from Chicago originally. This is the link we saw: https://greenbay.craigslist.org/cto/d/oconto-1964-buick-special/6777267132.html Nothing special is a base model with a stuck V6 and a 3 on the tree, and stored inside since 1981. Johnny and his new tool box got a hold of it and pulled the front clip apart. This little guy is virtually rust free except 2 small corners in the trunk an from a bad seal on the rear window. I popped the gas cap off and the tank smelled like the aftermath off a bad night at White Castles. FWIW... they smell the same coming out as going in! WHEW. So nothing special has a third pedal at least and only, get this, 33K ORIGINAL miles on it. Front end is nice and tight, original riveted ball joints, perfect full functioning glass, interior is 99% and on and on... The objective is to build a 1964 GS type-O. A 455 and a 4 speed will be just hunky dory. So after we make the deal, I ask the guy if he knows where I might find a decent 455. As we are chatting, we walk into the next room and theres a running take out 1973 455 complete with a 400 turbo. His dad had this installed in a 1951 Buick Roadmaster, but spun a bearing. So thats what I am told. We had to do the dance; I asked him what he wanted and he said to make an offer. Not knowing for sure if its a spun bearing or a wasted crank, I offered up $200. BAM!! The hammer fell; SOLD. So all in all, the car (99%) complete, the motor and the trailer home for a hundred miles is 3700. But wait, thats not all! I spot these hanging on the wall and he threw them in. Mane cave art, banged up, but still pretty neat! ws
So thanks Lucas War Hero for all youve helped with in this search! Plus everyone else thats shown patience and understanding!. The seller has a high end restoration shop in Peshtigo, Wi. about 40 miles north of Green Bay. The dorf is his and still missing interior but still nice. I asked about the B-turd and he says "Im not a Ford guy... ws
And yes, it was delivered brand new to Roseland Buick in Chicago in 1964 (Nick knows!) and the genuine dealer installed rubber Skylark floor mats! ws
Unfortunately we couldn't make a deal on the DORF. That is a sweet ride but I think we did really good on the "Special" . Merry Christmas Baby!!! Delivery is free, how cool is that. 100 miles both ways...ppat
I wanna cook up some of that Canadian Broulle stuff you make in them and serve with a soup spoon LOL ! Yummmeee. Perfect the Canadia day celebration... ws
Congrats buddy! Looks like an even better deal than what you showed me this morning.....now about that Fairlane......
That 67 is nice aint it? It was cleared, then blocked and cleared again. Still "needs buffing". Thats a stroked 351W. Why not a "C"? Yeah... the special is a little bit special; my mom had one just like it in tan. Had a dealer installed under dash AC... Maybe for this one too? Yo Frank... a bow would be cool, but not a BowTie for this one LOL... Hey Mark; may have to season them with some brats and sauerkraut cooked in beer for when you visit the TROPICS LOL... ws
