Had both mine done by LKQ about a year ago. $1250 for frt and rr on a 70. Turned out beautiful. Took 3 months
Bumper Boyz any good? They used to be at a lot of swap meets years ago. Their sign says fast service, no matter how long it takes! http://www.bumperboyz.com/
I would avoid the BBs. If it was a rare bumper, I needed a core, I could look it over in person first, and I could not get it anywhere else in the whole world, then maybe.
Used bumper boyz 20 years ago. Weren't too good then. What Jim said. Called Flint Bumper mart today and was told $450 for the front of my 73 Century. 4-6 weeks. They do driver quality jobs. 1 year warranty. Their plater does not use copper. Called LKQ today also. They were around $500 and are 12 weeks out. But they do use copper and promise show quality with lifetime warranty. If time is no issue they appear to be a good deal.
Sent both my ‘69 bumpers through LKQ - $599 rear $625 front. Sent them in midJanuary and they came backe mid-May. But, they did have too weld a small hole that developed while prepping...that set the project back a ‘bit.
Think I’m changing my mind for the third time. After calling a couple more places and not worrying about lead time and just quality it looks like Ogden but very pricey if you want backs nice and blue show chrome.
Had 3 done at Tri City in the last 6 months. 650.00 each. Finish is great. the straightening on one of them was a little off on one corner. They made it right.
keystone automotive in brainerd mn does top notch plating front bumper 530.00 rear bumper 613.00 with repair had hole in bumper for trailer hitch dings and dents tweeked came back ausume life time warenty on finish
Yes. It was 800 with all shipping paid by Ogden for "street" quality, and I figured I would spend the additional to be "sure" it was perfect rather than 800 and disappointed. I'm happy. But I know some folks can't or won't pay that much, and I understand and respect that.
Just got mine back from North Star Plating (Keystone) in Brainerd Mn. Dropped off at J and R plating in North Branch MN who polished all the stainless trim and did a great job. J & R plating shipped the bumper to Brainerd and back for no charge and gave me his 10% discount that he gets from North Star. It does not get any better. The bumper came out perfect with lifetime warranty.
Now that's ^^^^^ nice chrome! You truly do get what you pay for...cheaper pricing usually means skipped steps...and results in grind marks and poor brilliance. If you call www.shermsplating.com in Sacramento, be sure you're sitting down when they quote you a price ...but finer chrome plating you will not find. They charged me $550 to do a pot metal '70 Camaro Rally Sport grille surround and that was like 25 years ago...thing was fricking perfect, and as you all know, pot metal ain't easy to work with .
Sooooo.... three years after the original post what kind of pricing are you guys seeing out there in 2022? I contacted Tri City Plating, they want $2100 to replate a pair of 66 GS bumpers. They generally skip the first copper coat unless it's necessary to fill imperfections. Northstar Plating in Mn is $2430 for the pair. The copper coat and buff is standard procedure. I would expect a higher quality finish vs Tri City. I'm going to contact a nearby Keystone warehouse and ask if they get a discount thru them, I believe they now own Northstar.
